thanks, i'm aware. when i have time i will. anyways back to music...

i think harvest is kinda overrated, and only has a couple of good songs on it. heart of gold, alabama, and a maybe one or two more.

Woodstock 03-15-2005 04:03 PM

Harvest is over rated. After The Goldrush or On The Beach are arguably better.

i haven't heard it in a long while, so i should prob give it another listen... i'm sure there are more good songs on it than i give him credit for.

here's a band not often mentioned here:
what are your thoughts on the Steve Miller Band. I really love their kinda laid back funky feel. My favorite track would have to be joker, though close runner ups include jungle love, jet airliner, fly like an eagle, keep on a rockin' me, take the money and run, and space cowboy (yea i know those are basically all his greatest hits, but i think those are also his best songs)

RockAndRoll 03-15-2005 04:08 PM

Bonzo's here again? and I keep thinking he's me because of the avatar!

jpj 03-15-2005 04:08 PM

I love Steve Miller Band. They were the first classic rock band I ever liked, and my favorite song is Shubada Du Ma Ma because of that awesome bass line.

yea man i can't stay away. lol yea my father of time avatar apparently broke, gotta get a new one. good to see some of the originals still survive...

thickasabrick 03-15-2005 04:13 PM

I love the Steve Miller band. They have the only Greatest Hits album (74-78) that I listen to regularly. They wrote some great songs. They weren't as experimental or virtuositic as other bands of their time....but I still think they were one of the best bands of the seventies.

that's a good one. i like the blue grassy feel of dance dance dance.

cry cry cry is cool too, and so is my dark hour. but i'm especially partial to serenade...

Edit: I also like the stake, swingtown, and livin in the usa

mine did too. I think we were the only ones with it still. Come to think of it we've been in this thread for a loooooong time.

Anyways steve miller band is cool, I was surprised when I found out fly like an eagle was by them though.

I've also been reminded how awesome steppenwolf is lately.
I've also been reminded how awesome steppenwolf is lately.
yea i don't know much of them other than their big hits (born to be wild, magic carpet ride, rock me) but from those they have def earned their place in classic rock

Most people don't know much if any of their other stuff. I like their sound though, I really like the guitar sound in particular.

I saw them live on a public broadcasting show yesterday. They also had footage of The Doors and Hendrix playing. The Hendrix one was cool cause it was really early.

yea i saw that. i was ticked that the doors footage they played was the light my fire they did on the ed sullivan show, mostly cuz that was soooo short.

Yea, we saw that before in history. That was the show where Jim said "higher" even though he wasn't supposed to and then they got kicked out of their next few shows. OOPS!

But yea it was really short. :upset:

I like their stuff but I never really consider them their own band. I consider them and the guess who essentially the same band. I've seen Randy Bachman live twice and he put on great shows. (doing both BTO and The Guess Who).

funkybeeatch14 03-15-2005 05:04 PM

Would you guys consider Dire Straits classic rock? I love Mark Knopfler in Romeo and Juliet and Sultans of Swing. He's so frucking smooth

Remember when we saw them live?

Yeah Schyma, that list is pretty temporary. Harvest Moon does deserve better.
