Rincewind annoys me. I don't know what it is, he just annoys me. You could probably guess why by my favourite characters though... Vimes is good though. And the vampires, gotta love the vampires. Otto for example.

munky_magik 08-11-2005 02:42 PM

I like him. The Eternal Coward with a thousand retreating backs. He usually has great dialouge. I love Vimes as well, his attitude is just great.

There aren't too many established vampires are there? Bar Otto, Lady Margolotta, and Dragon King Of Arms that is.

Heh...I wrote Dargon the first time around :upset:

Lord Abortion 08-11-2005 02:44 PM

anything Pratchett writes is Gold

Going postal and monstrous regiment, although not using established characters were both fantastic...

Six Foot Revolver 08-11-2005 02:48 PM

I own Truth by him and it is on my to read list

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 02:48 PM

There was Carpe Jugulum. Which I would have loved just for the references to the kid vampires dressing up as accountants to be rebellious.

Monstrous Regiment was great, I think I prefer Going Postal though.

How long ago, about, did he leave?

munky_magik 08-11-2005 02:50 PM

Monstrous Regiment I adored, apart from Jackrum turning out to be a woman. That really killed the book for me :(

Going Postal was pretty good as well.

It's nice to see that he doesn't always rely on the same old people.

I really have no idea.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 02:52 PM

I find, that the ends of his books always seem to unravel a bit when he gets really philosophical about it all.

The ending of The Long Walk by Stephen King killed me. It was such a huge anitclimax, which was probably the desired effect but the entire thing just killed me the way it ended. I hated it.

I LOVED that story!
The bits where half the walkers lost their minds was amazingly written
Rage was great too...

my favourite short story has to be the langoliers though, that might be the best non-lovecraft short story I ever read

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 02:59 PM

Didn't the ending kill you at all? It just... ended. Ugh. I loved Rage though.

Rothmans 08-11-2005 03:08 PM

I really have to read some stephen king I always mean to but just don bother.

damn his endings!

I wached 3 SK movies a while the plot was interesting and made me expect something big, the ending was immature and stupid. I'm still whinning about the hours I've wasted on these movies and even more on that stupid 800 page book "Needful Things". A daemon? Just flied over and left? Gimme a break Mr! It was 800 pages for god's sake!

Your not alone, I dont think he has any fans.

I just got back from Bills training camp. It was awesome. Their first team offense looked good, Losman was getting the ball out quick and making good throws, McGahee was making good cuts, and the recievers were catching balls.

Right now I am at a library and this creepy dude next too me is editing his MySpace, where he pretends to be a 14 year old boy, when he is fat, about 45 and has a beard. And hes looking at a profile of a yound teenage girl with minimal clothes on. Its really wierding me out. Hes filling out this survey and IMing kids with SN's like XxSkaterxQTpiexX. pff...this scary and I think about it a lot lately. There are some people on the net that are obviously fake but what about the rest? How can someone know I'm true and how can I know someone is true? :S

As for GaggingOrder I'm afraid I kinda liked him but had no idea about the CG relation and rape/murder posts until a couple of days ago...
Still not good enough to beat the Pats /cough
I think the Bills defense will be a lot better than the Pats this year though. They did lose their leader. Their offense will obviously struggle. My guess is that Losman will get 12 starts and Holcomb 4. The running game should be strong though.

Still probobly not good enough to beat the Pats. :upset:

Right, and a rejuvanated Drew Bledsoe will carry the Cowboys to the promised land.

Also, Miami Vice is a really good TV show.

hey everyone im new to this forum and i figured id stop in and say a little about myself. ok ive been playing guitar for a quite a long time now, probably around 5 years. i play anything and everything but typically rock/metal, i have a crate half stack, soon to be full, and i got a few guitars. my first guitar was a galveston strat, then my uncle gave me a Kramer Striker 100 ST but it needs some work. then my dad gave me a bunch of marlboro cig, box ticket things and i got a acoustic which is just a copy of a martin & co, its not bad but it needs some adjusting because it has a few dead notes but i dont play it much so ya, after i started getting into guitars more, my friend had a guitar for sale, an he only wanted 50 bucks so i bought it, it just sits in my corner now but ya. well after admiring KISS and System of a down i wanted an iceman, (i have previously played with various Ibanez equipment and loved them all, pedals, guitars etc) so i bought the iceman icx220, its a nice guitar and thats currently the 1 i play with now. i dont really have a band but i have some jam friends, kinda like Kyuss lol. i usually do solo work, or show my little brother a rythm and then ill just play a song over top of it, ie, Fade to Black, awesome song to learn.
well ive never taken any lessons, just kept teaching myself new stuff. i play jsut about everything in drop C - DGCFAd, i have a stomb box , i use it for some stuff and i use the amps overdrive for others, the stomp box is a metal zone mt2, its not bad but its not good either lol,
also i can play a little drums, just enough to keep a beat and a "slow" double bass, or galloping lol,
well thats all i have to say
have a nice day

Stoic 08-11-2005 04:37 PM
