evilmenhavenosongs: YOu're English, correct? I don't know of a Somerset in the US, although I think there's one in MA.

And am I the only one who wants to see the pic of CG? I'm curious as hell now.

Stoic 08-11-2005 01:10 PM
And so I return after five days in Somerset during which I read 5 and a half books and did some other stuff as well. I saw the hottest guy ever, I swear he could have been a model and he smiled at me so I smiled back and my six year old cousin chose that moment to run away. Grrr. A guy at Longleat smiled at me too which is a record for such a short period of time I think. I saw a guy who looked like Pete Docherty taking photos of rabbits as well.
There's no doubt that you're an attractive lady (dont say anything!) :D
What kind of books do you read?

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 01:20 PM

I read a Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and four and a half Stephen Kings. I read gothic stuff as well and the classics like Phantom Of The Opera. My vice is trashy vampire novels though, I swear I must have read Lost Souls? so many times.

Yes, I am English. And glad to find the Somerset was filled with more than farmers.

Hmm...I'm not familiar with this kind of stuff but I didnt expect to hear something different.

I'm afraid that now with my internet obsession I dont have time for books! :S

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 01:25 PM

I'm terrible, I don't finish books and go back to them months later and can't be arsed starting them again. And I have an irrational hatred of Austen and Bronte. I love Les Liasons Dangerueses though. My English teacher despaired of me.

Illmatic 08-11-2005 01:29 PM

Bronte?

As in, the bitch who wrote Jane Eyre?

No one likes her.

Literature classes work in a totally different way here. In fact we just "analyze" (believe me, nobody takes this class seriously for various reasons) random texts and that's it. My classical education is non existent. I hope I'll fix this some time soon...:(

/sticks with psychology books for now
No one likes her.
My mom does :D

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 01:32 PM

Jane Eyre was the biggest pile of shit I ever had the misfortune to be forced to read. I didn't even get to the bit about the madwoman in the attic godammit.

The Terry Pratchett who writes the Discworld novels and slagged J K Rowling off. I love him. In a non sexual way seeing as he has an ugly beard and a weird hat.
Jane Eyre was the biggest pile of **** I ever had the misfortune to be forced to read. I didn't even get to the bit about the madwoman in the attic godammit.
The what now?

I "read it" (read: read almost half of it) before 9th grade.

I was more meaning which Pratchett book. I guess I should have been more specific. He does have a very poncy hat.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 01:38 PM

Near the end there were dramatic scenes in the church when they were getting married and it turns out the guys first wife is still in his attic. There's then a huge fire and she gets burned to death after she escapes.

My literature class consisted of my English teacher not understanding how I could be upset that the womanising, evil, scheming aristocrat died or sympathise with the capitalist pig.

It was Good Omens, third time I've read it. I was planning to read Carpe Jugulum for the fifth time but didn't get round to it.

Trerry Pratchett is an amazing writer. The Diskworld series is one of the best set of books ever written.

:upset:..either way, I like them a lot.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 01:53 PM

So I'm listening to Nevermore right now, and this is probably some of the most ass metal I've heard in a while.(Or since I heard Arcturus) It's just this pounding, churning, good ol' metal expirience. See Moses's thread for more on them.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 01:53 PM

Which is your favourite?

Kingofdudes 08-11-2005 01:54 PM

Bah the 6800GT is too much, I have the 6600GT.

edit: to NJ

Congratulations 08-11-2005 01:55 PM

I havn't read them all yet, but out of the ones that I have read, Small Gods and Moving Pictures are my favourites.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 01:57 PM

Have you read Soul Music or The Truth? You might like those two.

munky_magik 08-11-2005 01:58 PM

Nightwatch is his best work, I feel.
I used to love Small Gods but It's kind of lost its appeal to me now.

Lord Abortion 08-11-2005 02:26 PM

Feet of clay and the fifth elephant have to be my favourite discworld novels...
I have read them all about 8 times though...

evilmenhavenosongs 08-11-2005 02:28 PM

I definately <3 Carpe Jugulum. But then, I love all the ones with the Patrician in, and Adora Dearheart is great. I like the Death series as well...

My electricity keeps cutting out.

munky_magik 08-11-2005 02:31 PM

I think Rincewind and Vimes are the best characters.

I read Interesting Times for the first time in ages the other day. It annoyed me because I couldn't remember what happenend in it, unlike every other Pratchett book.
