Yea the song that got me into the Dead was Bertha, but I'm really getting into Uncle John's Band and Casey Jones right now too, did you by any chance knowtice one of them sniffing a line before the song?
That's there on purpose. And supposedly, the Dead weren't into cocaine during that period, though it is slightly irrelevant.

Cool thing is, I heard it.

My mom went to the June 27th concert in 1972.

That's right.

She went to the show that was on HTWWW

Badmoon I saw a Bob Weir album today, Ace, used 7.99 would it be worth buying?

Yes, three Bob Weir albums were just reissued and that is his best (and at a good price). It contains tons of Grateful Dead classics and features the whole band playing as Weir's back up group.

I can't wait to get it, though I have heard the album before. :)

Badmoon 03-14-2005 08:42 PM

Check out the track list.

1. Greatest Story Ever Told
2. Black Throated Wind
3. Walk in the Sunshine
4. Playing in the Band
5. Looks Like Rain
6. Mexicali Blues
7. One More Saturday Night
8. Cassidy

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 08:48 PM

Jam2Me: Could you send me the Traveling Wilburys? Every time I try to get them from you, I have to leave or something.

The Easter Bunny.

I hate the lady at the beginning who keeps refering to people as "Cats". A few times is okay, but once you have completely substituted "Cats" for "People", there's a problem.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 09:23 PM

I've seen a clip of some guy introducing someone at the Monterey Pop Festival and he says "man" after about every two words. It was a bit annoying.

Hendrix did that all the time, but he could pull it off. The best is when he called the police the "cats in blue hats" oh man gotta love Jimi.

I love the Hendrix footage. It gives me chills.

Seafroggys 03-14-2005 09:32 PM

Speaking of Hendrix, I was watching this really cool show on PBS last night (or a bit of it). It featured a lot of the lesser known bands from the 60s that have reunited after all this time (Steppenwolfe, Procul Harum, etc. all really sweet and mostly original members too!).

They showed clips of the ones who were gone, and they showed this really really early TV performance of the Experience doing Purple Haze. Its been awhile since I've seen Hendrix stuff life, but just watching Mitch Mitchell play the drums was phenomenal. And the teeth picking

Badmoon 03-14-2005 09:32 PM

My favorite performances were by Canned Heat and Santana.

EDIT: And CSNY

ATM 03-14-2005 09:33 PM

Yea those were great preformances. Santana looked so young.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 09:35 PM

I was going to watch that show, but my mom came in and turned on the news.:upset::upset::upset:

Was it Brian Jones introducing Hendrix?

The other day on PBS, Eric Claptons Crossroad Festival was on. It was pretty cool, it was the first time I had seen it (other than just clips). ZZ Top was disappointing, it was windy and they kept having to keep their beards under control. And they played the same song twice in a row basically.

Isn't Brian Jones the member of the Rolling Stones who went insane on LSD much like Syd Barrett? Or am I just so wrong I shouldn't have posted.

Badmoon 03-14-2005 10:00 PM

LSD affected him in a bad way. He didn't really go insane...but he basically stopped playing music and doing a lot of his normal activities.

edit- and yes, he was once in The Stones. He was actually their creative leader at one point of time, until he started taking too much drugs.
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
