The War of the Worlds sucks ***.
Really? I thought it looked good. What sucked about it?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-01-2005 10:22 AM

The plot sucked, the effects looked fake, the acting was horrible, it was just.....bad.

No one ever mentions Traffic on these things. Great Rock and Hard Egded Blues band from the late 60s early 70s, its where Steve Winwood really became famous. I saw Winwood in concert a few months ago at The Bass Hall (Its only about a 700 seat place so the setting was very intimate). Steve mostly played his old Traffic songs and ended the show with Low Spark of the High Heeled Boys. I had a seat at stage level but off to the right in a box, Steve's B-3 organ was angled so that every time he looked up I could see directly into his eyes. Its the closest thing to a perfect show I've ever seen. It would of been better had Chris Wood still been alive and playing though.

I did hear some one mention Blind Faith though. They only had one album but it was a perfect set of 6 songs. You had Steve Winwood on vocals, Organ, and piano. Eric Clapton on guitar, and Rick Grech on Bass. One of the first super band. I do forget who played drums for them though.

Ginger Baker, Clapton's buddy from Cream.

And Blind Faith is a great album.

We've talked about Traffic once or twice, I do remember mentioning them and talking to someone about it, like 3 or 4 posts about them. Of course, it always drifts off to another conversation.

And Blind Faith has been discuss a lot. Of course is about Clapton's (should I say it or not.. ? Nah, gonna keep it cool with Schyma, don't want no more arguements over something like that) playing in other bands and stuff. So it comes around once in a while.

Jim Capaldi died this year, it's very sad. I enjoyed his drumming on Traffic. I really enjoy Dear Mr. Fantasy and some of the other songs. Really like it when Dave Mason was around, he had some nice guitar fills on the songs.

lunch998 07-01-2005 01:00 PM

I'm usually the one to bring up Traffic, I have all their albums from Mr. Fantasy to Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys.

Thank You. :)

I haven't heard much but the little I have heard of Traffic I haven't dug. :-/

I can upload one of their albums in a bit/later, after I upload the Grateful Dead s/t.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-01-2005 01:32 PM

Is it a album or a song?

lunch998 07-01-2005 01:33 PM

It's a song, but I might aswell upload an album.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-01-2005 01:41 PM

Naa, just upload the song. My computer takes forever to download entire albums.

I decided to listen to Tarkus this morning for the first time in a while :amaze: This album is great!!! I only have it on vinyl so its been a while, but I think this album is a ton better than Brain Salad Surgery. The title track is a lot better than I remembered.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-01-2005 02:08 PM

Pardon my ignorance but what's "Tarkus"?

The most accesible/least-prog ELP album is Trilogy. Tarkus is ok, but not enough to maintain my interest.
Pardon my ignorance but what's "Tarkus"?
An Emerson, Lake and Palmer album. The one with the big metal armadillo.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-01-2005 02:51 PM

I never could into all that prog music I like Pink Floyd but that's as far as I travel with Prog. I bought Trilogy a while ago and I still can't listin to it.

From The Beginning is the least prog song on that album. At least give that song a try.

I'm not a huge fan of prog either.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-01-2005 02:59 PM

I love "From The Beginning" but the rest of album doesn't do anything for me. I think you're the one that sent me that song and that incouraged me to buy it.

I think I did send it to you.

I just listened to Miles Davis-In a Silent Way. Wow, this has got to be one of my new favorite albums. It's practically perfect.

PianoPilgrim 07-01-2005 03:09 PM

Just wanted to say my bit

Led Zep
Floyd
some Queen (more Glam rock but its still great)
Sabbath

There - feel much better for that
but I think this album is a ton better than Brain Salad Surgery.
*gasp* Blasphemy!!!!!!

Haha just kidding- both are amazing albums, but Karn Evil9 is one of my all time favorite prog songs.

(I hope I used blaspehmy in the right context)

lunch998 07-01-2005 03:41 PM

I've been wanting to get Tarkus, or an ELP album. Someone should post one of them.

Is that what everybody likes?

Can anyone ever get into anything else other than Floyd, Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Queen?

EDIT: I like Tarkus. I downloaded the suite (I think its Side A) pretty neat stuff. I want to get that and Brain Salad Surgery ASAP.

lunch998 07-01-2005 03:47 PM
Can anyone ever get into anything else other than Floyd, Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Queen?
No, because those are the best bands in the world and there are no classic rock bands other than them. In fact, you might notice that for 1470 pages, we've posted nothing but lists of those bands.

Edit: That was sarcasm, for Retard not Roll

I love Floyd, but dislike Zeppelin and Sabbath, and haven't heard enough Queen to have a valid opinion about them.

If that was sarcasm, it was very unclear.

Did you ever get the songs I suggested?
I sure did, and enjoyed.

I was supposed to see War Of The Worlds with my family today, but they wanted to go early, and I wanted to sleep in. They went without me.

For the record, I think Ray Manzarek was better than the guy from The Band, but I like both bands.

np: David Lee Roth - Just A Gigalo

Yeah I really need to buy a cd of theirs. I've only heard a few songs from the radio- Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Fat Bottomed Girls, We Are the Champions. That's about it. I like what I've heard though.

BludgeonySteve 07-01-2005 03:53 PM

True, but anyone worth a crap in here knows me well enough to know it was sarcasm. Only n00bs would take me seriously, and I don't want to talk to them anyway.
