Just read in the newspaper, that a recent study carried out by the "Universidad Nacional" here in Bogota, demosntrated that marijuana is a really good anti-acid, cause it inhibits the secretion of gastric acid..... :amaze:

I think I'm feeling som heart-burn..... :naughty:
^^And are you in a Nazi camp????
Yes

nisakks be quiet, you're really not helping my cravings. I think I moved to the place where ex-stoners come to become alcoholics.

In regards to the year-round school thing...

As a parent, I am MUCH in favor of this. I think I've read some proposals of having two to three week breaks between semesters, which I think is excellent. It would take some getting used to, and but in the end I think it would better prepare them for "the real world". (Come on- who's company gives them three months off int he summer? It's ridiculous.)

From a monetary standpoint- it saves on daycare costs as well.

Anywho, that's my .02. Bound to not be very popular on this board, but there it is.

moxshyfter 11-30-2004 01:00 PM

I agree! :)

Hey Shel, didn't know you're a mum! Congrats :)

How old is the child? boy girl, name?

Well, think about this school thing...you would get out at the end of 8 years instead of the usual 12 (maybe more).

However, I'm not so sure that I would want kids graduating at 16. Half of the 20+ year olds that I know are so **** immature that I would never trust them to be considered "graduates" or, god forbid, "parents".

bassist-bmxer 11-30-2004 01:19 PM

i'm well pissed off! i just bidded for this jazz bass copy on ebay and i lost it at the last minute, but i bidded more than him at the end but i was too late :upset:

Yeah...but this is a college :p So it's actually costing more money because instead of getting a slave job during the summer, I have to still be in college leaching off my parents.

moxshyfter 11-30-2004 01:23 PM

Why would you want a jazz copy?

I don't know if you guys seen this post, but this guy did an amazing job on de-fretting his bass. It looks factory.

Wow, that is good..

Espbassor 11-30-2004 01:40 PM

This is weird....my A:5 is buzzing...but only when I play a certain diad...and it's not my fretting, because as soon as I lift my ring finger (holding the D note) it stops ringing. I don't even change anything about how I'm fretting the note, and it just stops. and I know its just that D because I'll only fret that note while playing the diad....

jamesr 11-30-2004 01:44 PM

I know, i never considered defretting until i seen that. It looks flawless.

Might be the angle your finger is fretting the note, and when you lift you other fingers off the angle changes. I know when fretting barre chords a small movement in your fingers can cause a buzz.

Thats what I thought too...but I made sure my hand made no noticible changes in angle or anything, even with the finger. If it's an angle change, I can't see it. I think I just might have to raise the action a bit, but I was hoping to take it lower :upset:

It might just need set up. My action is real low. What I did was lowered my action until all the strings just started buzzing. Then if it buzzed just on the lower frets I loosened the trus rod, if it buzzed on just the higher frets I tightened the trus rod. I got it to the point where it buzzed everywhere equally then slowly raised each string till the buzz went away. Now it plays like a dream.

Sounds like a good technique if you know what your doing. I think I could do that, but I'll just take it down to GC and get them to set it up. That way if it's fucked up I can point the finger at someone else

moxshyfter 11-30-2004 02:06 PM

Well, don't count on corporate America to hold your hand when they screw you over.

I use to take it to shops, and it was always $20 and it seemed like it was the same as before with higher action. So one day i did research on it, and now i set up basses like that all the time. Then after you do that, it is just a matter of making fine adjustments to the trus rod from time to time. You really should learn to adjust your bass. Just remember to never turn the trus rod more than a half turn a day.

Yeah but they usually treat customers well in order to keep them happy shoppers. Happy shoppers are the best shoppers. Besides, you don't get a warranty with do it yourself jobs and can sometimes get screwed over by smaller shops too :thumb:

Dang! This thread made it all the way to page 247 before I even posted!

We fired our drummer yesterday. It wasn't pretty.

And then I came here and tried to be nice to some dumb@ss n00b in the "questions about how many strings/bass" thread...but now I give up, so if any of you feel like delivering a righteous flaming, feel free to mosey on over.

Yeah, I know, and I'd like to do it, but I learn better through doing, and I'd rather not "experiment" with my good bass thats not even fully paid for yet when I have two other, cheaper, ones at home. They just don't need anything done yet :upset:

Wow, Fubar. I haven't heard that for ages. I had to create a business in college, and I opened a bar called FUBAR. The professor never caught on, and everyone laughed the whole time i did my presentation.

moxshyfter 11-30-2004 02:17 PM

 That's awesome!

Hey, you're good with computers, right? Wanna help me out?

A friend of mine at a barn I worked at had two horses nicknamed FUBAR and FIGJAM...

Quite a pair, really.
