... Uh, Kirk and Dave both play guitar. Michael and Wayne play different sports.
... Uh, Kirk and Dave both play guitar. Michael and Wayne play different sports.
yeah...but in different bands, So really it is similiar. The analogy works fine, but if you'd rather argue over it, have fun.

Britton 09-10-2005 10:39 AM

Yea we would cause your wrong comparing mustaine to hammett is like
comparing....mustaine to hammett

Quickdrop 09-10-2005 10:53 AM

the idea of the analogy wasnt what they did, it was the fact that they're good. But obviously you guys arent getting that. But whatever im not gonna argue over something so unimportant.

Britton 09-10-2005 11:14 AM

okay. so how long have you all been listening to Tallica

maggot4875 09-10-2005 11:43 AM
Um, Kirk Hammett sucks. He even uses wah on Fade To Black when they play it live, he uses wah ALL THE TIME LIVE! And when he doesnt you hear his mistakes very clearly.

Dave Mustaine is far superior to Kirk Hammett as a player and songwriter.

But I do think Kirk was the better choice for Metallica.
james hetfield>dave mustaine>kirk hammett

I think that in that thread they said that AIM trading is still ok, just that MX didn't want the forums to become a host for filesharing

Britton 09-10-2005 12:10 PM

oh I'm learning a song and would like to hear it

Avellin 09-10-2005 12:15 PM

Who here knows SPECIFICALLY what Marshall amps they used for Kill 'Em All?

Joe 09-10-2005 12:20 PM
yeah...but in different bands, So really it is similiar. The analogy works fine, but if you'd rather argue over it, have fun.
No, it would work if you compared Wayne to Lemiux (sp)
okay. so how long have you all been listening to Tallica
Since... like 2 summers ago? I just started knowing Fade to Black and Enter Sandman for a few months and then I finally bought RTL and it went uphill from there
Who here knows SPECIFICALLY what Marshall amps they used for Kill 'Em All?
I have no idea but because it got stolen the greatest song in the history of Metallica was written.
oh I'm learning a song and would like to hear it
What song? I can guarentee one of us has it.

Avellin 09-10-2005 12:22 PM

I know it was a 100-Watt, I pulled up a search on marshallamps.com and I've narrowed it to probably a JCM800, 900, or a DSL100

Jev 09-10-2005 12:34 PM

Hmm, I think i may have the same amps used for KEA.

fatbandit 09-10-2005 12:39 PM

Didn't they have like very specific, custom amps? hence the huge dismay at having them robbed? If it wasn't so rare, they could surely have just bought a new one :/

:smash:

Britton 09-10-2005 12:40 PM

okay this is going to seem retarded but for a cover project
I need some Metallica songs. I gave the black album to this girl
I know and I recenltly lost everything on my comp (music wise)
I need enter sandman and the unforgiven

the song I want to learn is from oh brother where art thou
and I want to do it by ear

Jev 09-10-2005 12:48 PM

I'm not sure but i'd be rather bummed out if i found all my equipment save 2 guitars was stolen.
Plus Fade To Black was about his favourite amp being stolen, that may have been a custom amp or his very first amp that his mother got him before she died or something.

fatbandit 09-10-2005 12:50 PM

Yeah, I'd still be bummed, but its not irreplacable?

Sentimental attachment is something I hadn't considered though.

justine_hammett 09-10-2005 12:51 PM
yes^^^
But there are rumors that it is played on a 7 string
yea it was played on a 7 string but jaymz doesnt use the seventh. he only plays the six strings if tht makes sense??

Britton 09-10-2005 12:51 PM

can some one upload them?

rip-metal_rules 09-10-2005 01:43 PM

Quick question: Do Kirk and James use light or medium-guage picks for some of their fast open-E notes? Like in Whiplash? cause when I try to do it with a hard pick it sucks. And in Some Kind Of Monster in the deleted scenes when kirk can't figure out a riff the do a close-up and I was pretty sure I saw his pick flex.

Jev 09-10-2005 01:46 PM

I don't know, I've seen the picks they use on stage and they're about 1mm. They probably use different picks at different times but you should use whatever pick feels best for you when open picking fast.

rip-metal_rules 09-10-2005 01:48 PM

Oh, yeah, and ne1 listen to Trivium? On Ascendancy, in the intro to Rain, I could have sworn I was listening to Metallica.

rip-metal_rules 09-10-2005 01:51 PM

Yeah, but when I use a light pick for fast stuff it sort of feels like I'm cheating.

fade 2 blackened 09-10-2005 01:53 PM

Anyone here heard the bitter end by Sum 41. OMF'nG, they blatantlyripped off Battery there. The solos are in the same places and at the end the dude is basicly shouting "Bitter end!" instead of "Battery!"

And why the hell use a 7-string if your not gonna use the 7th string?

Jev 09-10-2005 01:58 PM

There is slight simularity but it's not a rip-off.

fade 2 blackened 09-10-2005 02:01 PM

Ok, its not a blatant ripoff, but its more than slightly similar.
And the song is pretty **** cool, but its a little to similar to Metallica's style.

Hell, the riffs are different but the layouts the same.

Jev 09-10-2005 02:08 PM

Yeah I see what you mean but I don't get why everyone says it's a rip-off and exactly the same.
There's some site somehwere that likens every song off Sum41's new album to songs that they "ripped-off". I think it was more coincidence than anything to be honest.

rip-metal_rules 09-10-2005 02:11 PM

Trivium kicks ***. I see thrash metal rising again.

fade 2 blackened 09-10-2005 02:14 PM

Yeah, I don't get it either. Hell, I don't get why I said it's a rip-off.

Back on metallica, here is a question thats probably been asked millions upon millions of times: When will they be back in the studio? I heard it was gonna be by the end of 2005/start of 2006.

Jev 09-10-2005 02:16 PM

Yeah I heard it was late 2005.
I thought they had started now actually.
