I'm from CT, I definitely won't go to UCONN though.

Berklee is a great music school, in Boston.

Anyone here ever wonder if Simon and Garfunkel would have been as successful if it were Simon and _____? (someone other than Garfunkel)

Honestly, Garfunkel didn't contribute much to the songwriting, and he wasn't as talented of a musician as Paul Simon. Paul Simon had good success even after the duo broke up, Garfunkel not as much.

What do you guys think? Could the same success be reached without Garfunkel? I'm not entirely ready to answer that question yet.

Ya that's what I was thinking too. Sort like The Beatles near the end of their career...it was no longer really a team effort, but they still slapped together some amazing songs.

(using the term "slapped together" very loosely)

Their name has a ncie ring to it so I don't think anyone else could do.
I have a live recording of Harrison and Simon singing Homeward Bound, really awesome, Paul could probably work with anyone.

B0nz0 03-14-2005 06:01 PM

ok dinner time while you guys are debating your colleges. i'll be back at around 10

Walrus Gumboot 03-14-2005 06:02 PM
i have harrison and simon on here comes the sun
I saw them play that on an SNL clip from the 70's

Harrison=God, or Jesus or something, maybe Krishna

any1 could work with George Harrison... unfortunately not anymore... Harrison was just such a great guy and Paul Simon is such a great guitarist hes almost like Clapton in the fact that he can play any1's songs and make his own awesome songs
Simon and Dimebag Darrel?
*shudders*

And your right (not directed towards MYR), George Harrison can work well with just about anyone. He is one of the ultimate musicians.

That's what I have, but mine is on a compilation I bet none of you have, The Romanian Angel's Appeal, organized by Harrison's wife. It is oozing classic rock talent.
I bought it for the Traveling Wilburys song so I could have every CD they were on, Ringo Starr and his AllStar band have a sweet song on it.

somthing remarkable has happened in my classic rock life. After not being able to see what is so great about the Who for years they have finally risen to be one of my favorite bands. I already have Live at Leeds and Tommy, but should I get the Who untimate collection? Is it a good? I know no greatest hits album is perfect, but I usually start with one to get a feel for the band and what album to buy. Though I got Tommy because I know not to take songs taken out of the concept album and put on a geatest hits album seriously.

I've never heard the collection you speak of. Wait till some more regulars roll around, they all know more about the Who than I do. (I would have suggested Tommy and Live at Leeds). You might wanna look into getting Quadrophenia.

MYR 03-14-2005 06:12 PM

Quadrophenia or Who's Next for sure.

Edit: Yaaaay Happy 10th post for me

Distant Echoes 03-14-2005 06:13 PM

Quadrophenia is one of my top 5 favorite albums ever :thumb:

I did a review on sputnik (the only one that got through)

You wont be disappointed in the album. Its much better then tommy
