That might have been Jackson, he bought their singles too I think.
Oh ok, I almost lost a lot of respect for Paul right there. |
I watched an Interview where Paul was saying Northern Songs (all of the Beatles music, except for their first album I think and some of Harrison's later ones) was up for sale again in the mid-80s, so whoever owned the rights (never the Beatles) was selling it for some reasons. Micheal Jackson bought it because of Paul's suggestions.
|
Didn't Jackson also sell a song to a commercial, which the Beatles were obviously against.
|
Didn't Jackson also sell a song to a commercial, which the Beatles were obviously against.
Yeah, he sold "Revolution" to Nike. |
Paul owns the latter stuff, though. Like, everything after Sgt. Pepper.
That's not true. Paul only owns four songs, and they are really early ones, like love me do. The beatles' company Apple was doing very poorly in 1969 and their new manager Allen Klein convinced them (except paul) that the best thing to do was to float the company on the stockmarket. They made a lot of money quick, but sometime in the 80's Michael Jackson bought the lot. |
I hate how MJ owns them though, He is a freak.
I wish they were still pauls. |
On the topic of selling out, was it actually John Lennon who sold himself to Converse?
I sure hope not, I don't believe he would have ever done something like that. |
On the topic of selling out, was it actually John Lennon who sold himself to Converse?
I sure hope not, I don't believe he would have ever done something like that.
Yeah it dosn't sound like something he'd do but i dunno. As for MJ i beleive now that hes losing his money sony is going to buy the songs, but i really hope paul gets them eventually. I also just watched I am Sam last night, and hes got a lot of cool john lennon posters. |
I thought it was more like the rights to the songs (royalties and such) were divided up 1/3 to the Beatles 1/3 to the record company, and 1/3 to whomever wanted to buy them. If MJ owned the rights to 100% of the songs, then McCartney wouldn't be able to use his songs anymore, but he can, because he owns the copyrights (I think)
In short, I don't think it is like "Bobby owns 3 songs and Suzie gives him 2, how many songs does Bobby have now" |
I hate how Micheal Jackson owns the rights to the songs. I hate Jackson with a passion that little........Little boy molesterer!
I wish i could get real music tones for my cell phone instead of STUPID Poly's.
Your retarded, yea it's crappy Michael Jackson owns the rights, but is that any reason to hate him and call him a little boy molester? (actually you called him a little boy molesterer). I see your one of those people who believe in guilty, no matter if there proven innocent. But anyways, did anyone else listen to the new McCartney single, I got a sendit link to it on page 145. |

I think he was guitly, and guess what, hes been convicted for molesting kids twice now. Doesnt that seem a little fishy to you? Plus, He admitted to distributing alchohol to little kids, but then was found not guilty for it. If that was me or you in that court room, wed be locked up in jail the first time, Jackson only gets off because hes rich and famous. Dont call me a retard because my opinion is different from yours. I said i dont like him because I think hes a child molester, Not because he owns the beatles songs. Get it right before you try to come after me douche bag. By the way, You act Like I just randomly called him a child molester. Are you stupid, He has gone to court for it twice, I didnt make it up. |
Beatles rock!

No hatin' allowed in the Beatles Thread, I am afraid you are going to have to take it to the Zeppelin Thread if you wish to continue
|
McCartney is a good cd.
np- Singalong Junk |
McCartney is a good cd.

Yeah, go mess up that thread. Nobody's using it for much anyways. |

Favorite Solo Albums McCartney- Ram Harrisson- All Things Must Pass Lennon- Imagine
Mine- Plastic Ono Band All Things Must Pass Imagine Those are the 3 I own. I haven't fully listened to Ram or McCartney yet. I doubt they could be as good as those 3. I plan on getting a few more Harrison albums as well. I only got All Things Must Pass a month ago, but I think it may have actually surpassed Plastic Ono Band. |

I can upload it for you if you want. Edit- I went ahead and uploaded it. It took like 5 minutes . That probably means it won't work, but here's the link to try it: hxxp://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=21BCWEXCIEFZ22MN3B8BZTLOFZ |

Mrs. Robinson is a great song, even though it is not originally by the Beatles. They do it best though. How do you make your own thread?
|
The Clash, at least it's someone who likes the beatles music and not some fat label exec.
|
I still haven't heard Plastic Ono Band. I will go and put it on my wishlist now
*gasp!* Oh dear lord, get it now! Its more grungier and punk then anything done in the past 15 years, its so internal and personal. Mother, WEll WEll WEll, I found out, God, Isolation, and the bonus tracks are pretty good do (Do the Oz is awesome). EDIT: What the hell, the Beatles never did Mrs. Robinson. Their complete recorded discography is on the back of my Scorebook, and its not on there. |

Im going with Mrs. Robinson came out after the beatles broke up. |

How do you get those to work on WMP? |
I've got the very best of John Lennon, and I've got a bunch of Paul McCartney tunes on my computer. I've found that McCartney's strength are his melodies, alot of his lyrics can be a bit cheesy, like put it there "Give me your hand, I'd like to shake it, I wanna show you Im your friend" but once it get's to the chorus it's just too catchy to resist.
But i've heard...pretty much nothing from George, and I've heard a few songs from Ringo. Ringo's stuff is really catchy and sounds like beatle material, but his voice isnt the best out there. I've gone threw my John phase and my Paul phase, so now, what are some good Ringo/George songs/albums I should check out? |
Hmm it may be the Farenheit 9/11 on tv behind me, but I think we really need a band like the Beatles. We need some good clean songs that everyone can enjoy. Like "All you need is love" that is one of the best messages and truest messages ever in a song. There's very few great positive songs that could be anthems these days. I think "Let There Be Love" by Oasis of their latest cd could be a really good anthem.
****! Thanks to the guy who uploaded "Plastic Ono Band" it's an awesome album! I'd never heard that version of Mother. I only heard the single edit. And I was suprised to hear many John Lennon songs I hadnt heard before. Well Well Well is really great and sounds like a Jimi Hendrix song to me. |

Yeah Walrus (I still don't know your real name), just download iTunes. You can take WMA's and convert them and you can play m4a files.

Troof. I'm not quite sure where Simon and Garfunkel came into this convo, but I love Mrs. Robinson, and don't find the Jesus bit cheesy at all. |

They call me Amanda, you? |
The first song I ever remember hearing was Here Comes The Sun. The Beatles is a great band, but I'm sorry to say I think they're a bit overrated.

He's Aaron, but then again, so am I. So it gets confusing. |
Isn't Kingofdudes Aaron as well? Or am I just crazy? Bah. Now I'm all confused.
I just listened to Sgt. Peppers for the first time in awhile. I have to say, after spending so long with Abbey Road and Rubber Soul, Sgt. Peppers didn't seem quite as good as it used to. |
i still think after all these years the white album outdoes abbey road.
