Meh, it's worth it. :D

Has yousendit found a way around the hxxp thing too?
|
Don't know. I just started using MegaUpload because it tells you how much longer until it's done. :thumb: My kind of program.
|
hxxp.......... when someone links a link with hxxp I just change it to http and it works.......btw the song was really good

I'm listening to In Your Face again. I think the part that bothers me most is the bridge that is those 4 quarter note powerchords. It sounds really stupidly heavy, it reminds me a lot of metalcore with the unneccessarily heavy progression. The breakdowns before the chorus remind me of metalcore a lot too. The chorus is ok, but the keyboard there and the intro kind of sounds industrial. The keyboard on HCDR was at least powermetal, but it seems to have become more industrial now. I don't mind the keyboard solo that much, but the guitar solo is no good. The riff after the solos isn't too bad. I stil have trouble enjoying the song overall because I hate way more parts than I like. The vocals especially bother me, they have a big metalcore vibe.
When I say metalcore people yell at me but I mean that in a very literal sense. Everything in this song that I call metalcore I mean it has a big hardcore punk influence. Like it or not, all NWOAHM does, thus I call it all metalcore. |

As far as Alexi goes it was a dissapointment. |
I disagree, SP. I don't think it's metalcore. It's clearly still Bodom, in my opinion. The keyboards, the guitar runs and the harmonization during the chorus of the guitar and keyboards. Not to mention Jaska does a great job. The only thing I disliked slightly about the song was the vocals.
|
The keyboards had some Bodom sound but clearly were different than before, it never had an industrial vibe. I wouldn't expect Jaska to change anything, it'd be odd for the drummer to play differently, he usually just sticks to the double bass. I still don't see how you can deny the metalcore sound, not 1 person has agreed with me on this but it sounds so clear to me. Even HCDR sounded slightly metalcore to me.
|
Maybe because when I think of metalcore, I think of Killswitch Engage; the only metalcore band I like. You can't be saying that In Your Face sounds like anything Killswitch has done...
|
I'm not sure what band I'm saying it sounds like becuase I have an idea of what metalcore sounds lik ein a very broad sense, not as a band specifically. I'll go look at some As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage tabs to see if I can find what I'm trying to say.
|
Do you think TLS sounds metalcore too?
|
Slightly, but not nearly as much as In Your Face. TLS sounds like it could go on HCDR.
|
Do you think TLS sounds metalcore too?
 I hope not! EDIT:  |
The intro sounds a bit metalcore. A lot of metalcore bands repeat 1 note like that.
|
Oy vay. Alright. I'm done talking about what genre Children of Bodom is. I still love em, and I support whatever they're doing. To each her own, I guess.
EDIT: Goodnight, guys. |
I've never been anything but pro-melody, and the direction Bodom is going in is the exact opposite.
|
well then it might be just this song which is "metalcorish". if now TLS isn't at all as much as IYF. they're both on the new album.....
|
Well if all the songs on the album are like TLS then I think Alexi would be lying when he said this wasnt going to be another HCDR.
|
So far, not only does In Your Face not sound metalcore at all, but it also sounds nothing like HCDR. I think IYF is very melodic thanks to Janne. Hardly opposite of pro-melody.
|
I wouldn't call that song melodic at all. The keyboard is sorta, but not enough to call the song melodic, it's absolutely nothing melodically compared to something off of Hatebreeder. I looked at the song The Rose of Sharyn by Killswitch Engage and the intro to that reminds me a lot of IYF. I should watch Headbanger's Ball on saturday because I know I have heard stuff ont here that reminds me of this song.

gtg to bed now. good night guys.. cya

The guitar is not at all similar to that of their older stuff. Alexi's actually trying to riff now instead of constantly shredding the licks and solos we love oh so much. But the keyboards haven't changed at all, and that's what makes the song still quite melodic. I couldn't tell you if it sounds like Killswitch, since I don't like/listen to them. I wouldn't say IYF sounds like metalcore in general. |
Anyone know how the new album sounds?
|
Anyone know how the new album sounds?
Judging by the one new song I've heard, I'd say it sounds great. Almost every other person here would say the opposite. |

2 songs you mean, TL&S is on the album. I'd say it sounds ok. If you like older Bodom and older powermetal this won't appeal to much to you, but if you are into HCDR Bodom and NWOAHM it'll be good. |
*sniff* I'm listening to Bed of Razors and it makes me miss Bodom so much. I'm still gonna see a show so I can hear some old stuff. I'd be satisfied if they played 10 new songs and 1 old one even as long as I see Bodom.
Anyone following the Ultima thing I have good news and bad news. My band has finished 2 more songs as of today, the bad news is we still don't have any recordings and may not for over a month. If anyone is interested in seeing a gp of the 2 songs that were finished, I know some of you saw half of one of them, just tell me and I'll upload them. |
Bodom's new song doesn't sound ANYTHING like Killswitch...where'd this comparison come from?
Judging from their 2 new songs, the new album is...different. They're going in a new direction, for better or for worse. Personally, I liked their older stuff, but knowing Bodom, they'll probably pull off what they're doing just as well. :) |
I didnt see a Children of Bodom thread so i decided to make one myself. If you want to talk about this amazing band then this is the place to do it. Lets get the ball rolling.
What is your favorite Bodom song?
Children Of Decadence |
