They're cool but do you really need them?

Murd_666 01-15-2006 09:23 AM

I'm looking for a bell effect with a full ping sound, I've already tried the Ice bells and i was not satisfied. Both LP and Sabian ones.

Loser 01-15-2006 09:23 AM

I'm looking for another ride. Currently I have a K custom Dark Ride (20") and I love it, but it's too washy for some situations, and a little too dark for some. I want a ride that is clear, defined, and somewhat bright. If you've heard the bell of an A custom Projection Crash, I want one with a bell somewhat similar to that.

I'd like some names of possible solutions before I head to the shop, because they have hundreds of cymbals there, and I could spend weeks trying every possible way of striking ever cymbal they have, and then they'd get new ones in.

Thanks.

chewaz 01-16-2006 12:32 PM

14"HHX groove hats, 22" groove ride, 10" HHX splash, 16" and 18" HHXtreme crash?? liked it???

full collapse 01-16-2006 04:54 PM

Does the A Custom Mastersounds have a medium-thin top and medium bottom, or medium-thin top and extra heavy bottom?

Because the zildjian website says both.

And i'm looking for a ride that's similar to the 21" A Custom Projection ride, but with a bit brighter and louder bell.

straycat101 01-16-2006 07:15 PM

What is the closest Zildjian/Sabian equivilent to a Wuhan China? if there is such a thing....
14"HHX groove hats, 22" groove ride, 10" HHX splash, 16" and 18" HHXtreme crash?? liked it???
it's kinda urgent plz :)

full collapse 01-16-2006 08:36 PM

There isn't anything wrong with those cymbals.

chewaz 01-17-2006 12:35 AM

i meat any, reviews or something like that? i want a "ZZZZ" hats, a ride that is not too washy, not as washy as an aax stage, "to make busy ride patterns", and a splash that cuts trough with fast decay?? do they get close to what i meant?

boss 01-17-2006 12:44 AM

do they have it at the store you're looking at?

aznriceball 01-17-2006 12:47 AM

might wanna try u a 22" A ping

some other favs with ur attributes ur describing

21" hh raw bell dry ride
22" k heavy ride

the splash, maybe think about either a 10" wuhan splash or an 8" AA china splash, most likely the china splash

the groove hats are very distinct, ull definitely wanna listen to those on the sites at least if u cant try em out. also suggest 14 k hats, and 13 hhx groove hats

chewaz 01-17-2006 01:01 AM

i don't like zildjians :P, is the 22" K heavy like the 22" HH heavy?, i don't like the raw bell... because everyone has it, is like it's some sort of "the latest fashion cymbal" :P,

playwithfire 01-17-2006 03:45 PM

People like it because it sounds good. If you want to make an "anti-good gear that's common" statement go buy a setup of ZXTs...

Anyway, to whoever mentioned it, I have a 22" A Zildjian Ping ride, and it's a fantastic cymbal. The bell is clear, bright and defined, while the bow is dry, bright and articulate. Fits in a lot of music. I would recommend it to anyone.

chewaz 01-17-2006 06:23 PM

i've tried A ping ride and didn't like it a lot, i found it too ringy, i want something more organic, i think I'll go for the HH heavy 22", and the AAX-xcelerator 14", AA" Splash 10" and 8", but i'm not quite sure about the crashes maybe the HHXtreme or AA medium-thin

Drum Phil 01-18-2006 06:37 AM

Ok im looking for a china between 18 and 22", Dark yet trashy with a decent amount of cut.

I would prefer it to be sabian but zildjian, paiste and ufip are acceptable

CasB 01-18-2006 07:06 AM

How 'bout wuhan?
How 'bout wuhan?
No easy access to wuhan

Obelisk 01-18-2006 08:01 AM

18" crash with a good wash whist "riding", yet bright on single hits. Medium to heavy weight, no pref. on mfg.

Heavier than A Custom, lighter than AA Rock crash.

Thanks!
