Slayer got old for me after listening to them for 3 years...i still like them though and would have to say my favorite songs by them are War Ensemble, Raining Blood+Postmortem, and Altar of Sacrifice. Kerry King is the worst guitarist i can think of in a professional band and Hanneman is one of the Best. Hanneman is Slayer.
KK's a better guitarist than you are.

Considering guitarists in bands like Korn, Distubred, and Green Day are in professional bands, I'd say you don't know what you're talking about.

On topic of those odd fans. What about the dad who named his son, SAYER... in honor of Slayer. Wow.

Thats Fanboyism.

Bazarov 04-10-2006 02:31 PM

Yeah, I really like Slayer, but if I ever have a child. I don't think I'd ever name them after a band.

It's a little selfish, too.

Man, the threadstarter of this thread was a mega fag.

SimonCore 04-10-2006 02:54 PM

^Yeah lol. He didn't even try to do a write up! Fairplay he came up with a good thread name though.

I decided a long time ago to give my son a name with no vowels

NP: Crucial Unit - Nine Hundred Samosas

Bazarov 04-10-2006 03:20 PM

 Awesome.

I have a buddy who immigrated from Russia when he was like 8. I swear his last name has now vowels. It's like Khjklnqrsky. Okay that's an exaggeration, but his last name is crazy.

NP: Cannibal Corpse - The Undead Will Feast (demo)

Back in the day when Chris didn't use death metal vocals.

MegaMustaine 04-10-2006 03:23 PM

Slayer pwns. I do like Hanneman a lot more than King, but to each their pwn. :chug:

I remember when the whole of R&M was decided what to call this thread, and what to re-name that thread.

Fuck yeah they do! King may not be the best guitarist, but he has made some awesome riffs.

Hannemans guitar is awesome.

I think KK looked so much better with long hair, now he looks like a zombie creature.

SimonCore 04-10-2006 03:42 PM

I just downloaded Slayer live at Rock AM 2003. Set list as far as i remember:
1.Disciple-****
2.Stain of mind-****
3.Chemical warfare-***
4.Hell awaits-****
5.War ensemble-** truly was the worst war ensemble i've ever heard
6.Blood red-*****-never seen them do it live before and they did it perfectly
7.Show no mercy-****
8.Dead skin mask-****
9.Raining blood-****
ENCORE
10.South of heaven-****
11.Angel of death-***

Bazarov 04-10-2006 03:46 PM

When I saw them they opened with:
Darkness of Christ/Disciple
Stain of Mind

then in no particular order:
Manditory Suicide
South of Heaven
War Ensemble
Dead Skin Mask
Seasons in the Abyss
Chemical Warfare
Bloodline
Angel of Death

They ended with Postmortem and Raining Blood.

They may have played one or two more songs, but that's all I can remember them playing.

SimonCore 04-10-2006 03:47 PM

Oh yeah they played Maditory suicide after Chemical warfare aswell! I knew there was one i missed!

Stoo 04-10-2006 04:26 PM

Not very long sets considering the length of the songs... When I saw Opeth they played 9 songs but they were all 10 minutes +

Bazarov 04-10-2006 04:29 PM

Well the Rock AM was a festival so they weren't the main event. And when I saw them the show started like at 7:30 so really there wasn't much time for playing.

Stoo 04-10-2006 04:52 PM

Okay okay. I hope Slayer tour Europe this year.

AA-12 04-10-2006 05:17 PM
Okay okay. I hope Slayer tour Europe this year.
Yeah they definetly are. Around october-November methinks. Tom said 'The fall' anyway.

Stoo 04-11-2006 04:48 PM

Sweet. \m/

Bazarov 04-11-2006 06:43 PM

So I'm listening to South of Heaven. I haven't listened to this album in quite a bit. It's kind of a breath of fresh air

NP: Slayer - Live Undead

Stoo 04-11-2006 07:00 PM

I wanna get SoH. Can't find it in shops, will have to buy it from play.com.

Another thing...

The first Slayer song I ever heard was called... Slayer - God Hates Us All. After a bit I bought THAT album, not seeing God Hates Us All as one of the songs I just assumed it would be on the album anyway...

It wasn't. Since then I've bought Hell Awaits and Reign In Blood. Still not the song I was thinking of. I might upload the song from my iPod to the computer and then let guys in here hear it, 'Coz I really wanna know what the actual name is.

Is there a Slayer song called "God Hates Us All"? Or is that just the album?

:)

Bazarov 04-11-2006 07:02 PM

HAHAHA..

The song is called Disciple

the chorus is, "God hates us all!"

Stoo 04-11-2006 07:07 PM
HAHAHA..

DUDE IT'S NOT!!

I have the "God Hates Us All" Album... I said that ^^

I'll probably have to upload the song. Don't know when though.

It would be funny if it wasn't Slayer at all. That would mean me getting into Slayer would have been a sort of mistake. :p

Bazarov 04-11-2006 07:10 PM

No seriously, the song DISCIPLE on the album GOD HATES US ALL has the chours "GOD HATES US ALL!"
Drones since the dawn of time
Compelled to live your sheltered lives
Not once has anyone ever seen
Such a rise of pure hypocracy
I'll instigate I'll free your mind
I'll show you what I've known all this time

God Hates Us All, God Hates Us All
You know it's true God hates this place
You know it's true he hates this race
