Its hella feminine to get tattoos on your feet, chicks do it because they wear sandals.

max_facekick 06-22-2005 07:36 AM

I attempted to put the avenged sevenfold death bat on my forearm last year, bad idea. It looked really shitty so I had to wait for it to fade, but you still can see traces of it.

oitotheworld 06-22-2005 06:42 PM

well since we were talking about corporate evilness a few pages back, i thought that this might be fitting http://samsara.law.cwru.edu/comp_law/10-shoplifting.html (if someone's already posted this, my bad)

cheeser_1 06-24-2005 04:35 PM

this isn't exactly a diy question, but i figured i shouldn't post a whole new thread. i'm thinking of getting new shoes (well, i pretty much have to, my only pair is just about completely worn through the bottom). i'm not getting converse, because they're made in sweatshops now. i'm at the point where i can affort something besides random $15 shoes by a brand that exploits workers, i'm certainly not paying $40 for chucks from a company that does the same.

does anybody know if there are any shoes like it (for reasonably low prices, under $50 for sure)? what about those duane peters shoes (from vision streetwear, aka draven shoes, google either of those if you're looking for them, although vision doesn't really have a functional website)?

Anxious 06-24-2005 04:38 PM

classic vans?

religionisascam 06-24-2005 04:43 PM
classic vans?
I'm pretty sure those are also owned by nike and made in sweatshops now.

I bought some Duane Peters shoes from interpunk a while back. They were $40 plus shipping. That's not too bad.

It's extrmely hard to find not-sweatshop-made made shoes. You can get some boots,a lot of those are U.S. made.

religionisascam 06-24-2005 05:00 PM

Get some of these shoes, they look like chucks but are "anti-corporate" shoes.

Boots can run high, mine were $30 I think, they are Roebucks, which is Sears, but were made in China.

Major General Despair 06-24-2005 05:23 PM

Like chucks, but union-made, and cheap.
http://www.nosweatapparel.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=NSS

Cheaper on this site though

I thought they would have alot cheaper.

oh man, see, now that's perfect. those are the same price as chucks or anything else. in related news, a big chunk of my shoe fell off. which is awesome.

oitotheworld 06-24-2005 09:43 PM

I'd go with duane peters. I have the black and red stripes now and they're great. i got mine for 35 plus shipping which isn't too bad. I'm starting to wear through them now though, and I'm considering getting a different duane peters shoe.

Anarcho Poser 06-24-2005 10:07 PM

Duct tape them.

RudeBoyStompin 06-24-2005 10:07 PM

I got these a little while ago http://shoeswithsouls.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ECOSNEAKS%20(MEN)%20BK

They seem to be holding up ok. I like them.

oh, they've been through like an entire roll of the stuff. i've had these shoes for about... three and a half years i think it is.

oitotheworld 06-25-2005 07:59 AM

metty16 06-25-2005 09:44 AM

Loads of people have tattoos under their arms, it's just as valid a place to have one as any

Who makes a flag, and why?

Anxious 06-25-2005 04:22 PM

So you can wear it on your ***.

Brain Toad 06-25-2005 04:29 PM
Who makes a flag, and why?
I asked the same question to myself, especially one for a band. One of your country maybe, but not a band.

metty16 06-25-2005 04:36 PM

No one will even know what it means/stands for unless someone tells them (the DKM flag)

SantaDuJuan 06-25-2005 04:58 PM
I asked the same question to myself, especially one for a band. One of your country maybe, but not a band.
It would fun to make one of your OWN band.
It would fun to make one of your OWN band.
My band were meant to be playing a gig but it was cancelled so we are going to play in my friends basement instead and he is going to make a flag/banner of the band. Plus we will only be playing in front of my friend

z is me 06-25-2005 07:58 PM

alright, im about to embark on making t shirts, so can anyone pass along some political slogans (an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind) or perhaps some symbols from bands (the strike anywhere three pointing arrows, crass logo), or maybe even some quotable quotes from, say.... lyrics (from all the way in the back of the food stamp line its THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE LEFTOVER CRACK!).

cheers

Brain Toad 06-25-2005 09:40 PM

I tried out my AC/DC stencil today, and it turned out horrible and made me waste a piece of canvas :upset: The stencil was too small and really crap. So then I decided I wasn't done and freehand painted a hammer-sickle onto a piece of scrap white fabric, and it turned out really good. I may attach it to some sturdier fabric and used it as a small patch. I'll take some pics when it dries.
