Joey Jordison is a bad drummer.
False. He is talented. If you deny that then you are just blindly saying so because you're scared your cool points will go down. He's definetly outdone by other drumming giants these days, but that doesn't mean he is bad. |
Just because he isn't the best drummer in the world doesn't make him bad, I think he is an excellent drummer, but I just like his style.
|
Haha great work Josh. You show those noobs.
|
It was quite obvious from his post that Dethroned-Emperror88 is a retard there was no need to reply to his posts anyways. Fools like him should be ignored.
I actually somewhat respected your opinion, despite calling the majority of this threads posters 'faggots', until I read this. If you do not have the mental capacity to accept the fact that Slipknot are metal, then take your fucked up logic elsewhere.
No,they´re not. They´re crossover. Apart from that, yeah, I actually enjoy some Slipknot and don´t really feel the need to prove the same FACT over and over again. Overall, nice job on flaming that poser, but you fücked it up bigtime when you posted the above. |
Burzum- Burzum/Aske (EP)
Mayhem- Deathcrush DarkThrone- A blaze in the Northern Sky Bathory- Under the Sign of the Black Mark Abigor- Supreme Immortal Art Graveland-Celtic Winter
I only recently (in fact, earlier this week) heard Slipknot's music for the first time. Even though their detuned guitar riffs and double bass drumming are a clichè that my bassist and I enjoy laughing at (along with other clichès from every other genre), I actually enjoyed their music after listening to it. They really do have talent and are better than many modern semi-mainstream metal/heavy bands. Anyway, so, random Slipknot basher dude, I'm surprised at how you can tune Slipknot like that, and then in the same breath tell us how awesomely talented a bunch of LotR fanboys in black spandex playing Celtic music on axe-shaped plastic guitars are, when they sing of the Dragonlord Rognar and his fearsome army of half-trolls. Grow up. |
Quorthon was a million times more talented than ANY member of Slipknot. It´s not only technical skill I´m talking about here, but compositional. As for Varg, he was insane, but in his twisted psyche lies an amazing artist.
Hmmm, Darkthrone, Mayhem and Graveland: Yeah, they suck now but back in the day they ruled supreme. Too bad they didn´t keep up to quality and are now releasing either mediocre or just plain shítty records. Thing is: Don´t bash my music, random black-metal-bashing imbecile and I´ll refrain from bashing yours. (you know that it WAS extremely stupid posting something like that right after I did, right?Cause I´m bound to look in and see how me compadre Kingjay replied...) |
Thing is: Don´t bash my music, random black-metal-bashing imbecile and I´ll refrain from bashing yours.
I was making a point, ie you can bash any genre of music because every genre of music contains stupid clichès, sell-outs who become famous, and wannabes. I don't really have anything against black metal (or whatever it is, I admit I don't know), I was just having a go at Dethroned-Emperror88 with all his Slipknot-bashing. I don't even like Slipknot that much, they're just more interesting than Dope or Deftones (to me). EDIT: "Random Slipknot basher dude" refers to Dethroned-Emperror88, not you. |
I know, but you could´ve edited out the Bathory. Let the dead be dead.

I don't even know any of those bands, I was just taking a stab in the dark. No hard feelings, k? :thumb:
ATTENTION ALL SLIPKNOT F A G G O T S
Slipknot... What a horrible horrible band. I mean not just from the standpoint that they suck balls musically but the fact that with each new album they get ****tier. Let me Explain: Ok first off, there are 9 people in the band. Who the **** ever herd of 9 people in a ****ing band? Two drummers? and one who just bangs his head around for most of the time? Nobody is even a worthy musician I think they go by the "If we play loud and scream alot people wont realize we all suck" stance. They have made three albums and havent advanced musically in any of them. They have still stayed the same screaming, ****ty band they have always been. The only thing close to musical talent in that band is the lead guitarist but still, any real metal guitarist could easily play any of there songs. Second they are not respected by any of the metal community. I believe they have been around since the early 90's and there has never been a tribute or any one saying "I was really influenced by Slipknot" just a bunch of F A G G O T Nu Metal kids saying how metal they are. THEY ARE NOT ****ING METAL. They are complete ****. But since I am a nice person I will leave you with some examples of good solid metal: Burzum- Burzum/Aske (EP) Mayhem- Deathcrush DarkThrone- A blaze in the Northern Sky Bathory- Under the Sign of the Black Mark Abigor- Supreme Immortal Art Graveland-Celtic Winter Enjoy.
Your so metal? You have failed to read the rules, enjoy your stay at MX. It won't be long... |
I don't even know any of those bands, I was just taking a stab in the dark. No hard feelings, k? :thumb:
K. Quick tip: NEVER slam LotR, it makes you look really bad, especially if there´s an english teacher/major reading the thread who might decide to call you on it... Use D&D instead ;-) |
The thing about slipknot for me is; their music isnt exactly bad, its just forgettable. ill listen to them for a day or two, and not care to listen to their music again for two or three months. Point aside, the b-side "get this" is amazing, and I add it to a lot of loud mix cd's I make.

I've actually heard quite a few bands say Slipknot influenced them, so get your facts straight. Also, if you want to get technical, they have produced five albums(one un-released, so even saying four would be semi-accurate) Thirdly, Slipknot is one of the biggest bands out there right now. No, not always the most popular, but definitely one of the biggest. Also, how can you say that they aren't respected by the metal community? Please, I beg of you, tell me how you can say this? Also, there is MUCH musical talent in that band. While not the greatest, Mick is one good guitarist, Corey is GREAT with both his screaming AND singing, Sid does great with the backup effects, and Joey Jordison is an incredible drummer. So, you wanna talk about faggots? Why don't you try looking back through this thread a bit and realize that you sound just like any other moron who comes in here bashing Slipknot, and you fail at trying to make it look like you have a decent reason to say they suck. |

LOL, ya man he's really good. Slipknot on the self titled Cd was very unique, I expected great things from them, and then they release 2 more cd's that mostly sound the same imo, And on SV they add like 2 guitar solo's in that seem forced, like they had to prove to people that they can actually do it which seems kinda sad if it is true. |
So anyone see Slipknot at the Grammies (apologies if this has been mentioned already)?
The guys looked pretty funny. |
no! i wanted to see them the first year i odnt watch, they win i was so mad at myself, i wish i couldve seen it :-(

I think that Vol. 3 and Iowa are very different but that's just me, and the solo's don't sound forced, they had been trying to put them in since the beginning but their producer didn't like guitar solo's. |
I reckon everyone bashes Slipknot because they think they are too "mainstream" and don't even bother listening to the music.
|
Has anyone heard the original band named Slipknot? They were a hardcore band back in the mid to late 80s. Not too bad stuff.

Umm... what? An explanation would be good =P I have no idea wtf you're talking about! |

They´re just jealous because they never managed one of the best translations and papers on Beowolf in existence... |

You can download an album here. Pretty much just a band that has the sam name as Slipknot but were earlier. I just wondered if anyone had heard of them. |
So yeah to bump this thread.
When did you guys start liking Slipknot? I started liking them right after Vol. 3 came out and my brother started listening to it a lot, I liked Duality and tried the rest of the CD and it was great. |

Then I picked up Vol: 3 and really liked it and still do. I dl MFKR(the one before corey) and it was great. Some neat jazz breaks and interesting hip hop style vocals. Iowa is worthless IMO. Vol: 3 is great. ST is ehh. MFKR is great. |
I haven't given MFKR to much of a listen, a few minutes here or there but nothing to huge.

Give it one. Listen all the way through. It's solid. |

Ill tell u wat, wen u make it as big as them. Let us all know here on MX forums. We'll be very interested to hear from you. Considering that Joey is ranked as one of the greatest drummers of all time. Obviously no where near as good as drummers like Dave Lombardo. But just because he ****s up occasionaly in a DRUM SOLO, doesnt mean he sucks. Watch Joey during the Heretic Anthem, then tell me he sucks. As for the guitar solos, they have always wanted to, but they ended up being cut because there last producer didnt want them to use them. |

Speed =/= skill. I love Slipknot and what Joey does for them, but he's really not that great. Also, no offence, but is it really that hard to type 'you'? |
bwaha slipknot at the grammies. Joey looked "in place" but craig really stood out. they mustve caused quite a scene! Has any one seen any footage of either craig sampling or any Very early shows?
