Haha, good. I've never actually worn them to a show though.

Toehaze, we're not in Mehico now, so you've got to fight those urges.
Lee, I think I'm gonna take your old people advice about wearing earplugs at shows. My ears won't stop ringing.
Really, you will love yourself for it.
I once had a serious problem.
And I can tell you that really sucks.
You can't understand anyone when a tv is on, or when other people are talking too.
Also you have no clue from which side a car comes, you lose your sense of orientation, hearing wise.

Really use those plugs.
I have special filters, they make sure I'm not exposed to to loud sounds and they cut out the annoying frequencies, so I actually hear better what's going on during a show.
All the annoying noise sounds get filtered out and you hear a cleaner, clearer sound.

Sup?

In all honesty, I think it was just one band that did it to me. Some drone / stoner-ish band played a few songs and they were extremely loud. The drumming is what got me... the crashes were mic'd way too high and each time they were hit it felt like a shock to my ears. For the most part it's gone... but I'll definitely wear plugs next time though, haha.

Tyler 01-28-2008 12:01 PM

I love Prince.

Who else could write, "your face is jammin', your body's hecka-slammin', if your love is good let's get to rammin", and make it sound awesome.

Stormrider 01-28-2008 12:03 PM

Yeah. The plugs you have Petey are ones I'd like to have. Much better than the cheap ones that make you mostly hear the bass over everything haha.

Tyler 01-28-2008 12:04 PM

I make fun of people who wear plugs at shows, I'm not going to lie.

ps: "If you wanna get creamy, I'm the one you wanna see"

Brilliant.

They are ace.
The ones you are talking about are good when you go to a drone gig.
Well, not that is anything else to drown out, as far a higher frequencies go, but whatever. :p

You can get the once I have for a good price like 30 euros.
They came in a nice keeping bag, with a zipper closing.
Reliable and good.

Yeah so do I, but I have a thing about my hearing, so I may hve to suffice looking like a fag.

Tyler 01-28-2008 12:07 PM

I'm never really close to the stage anymore though. I usually hang back at the bar, or where I can see the band fully.

Nostalgia 01-28-2008 12:09 PM

I find being next to the railing is a little quieter, since there isn't really a hanging speaker directly in front of you. If I'm back a little towards the middle it's much louder.

pate 01-28-2008 12:09 PM

Agreed.

Oh well, they're tiny and not obnoxious(sp?) looking.
And I don't give a rats *** about how they look, all I care about is that I'll still able to hear and enjoy music in 50 years.

I haven't been to a gig in ages. :(

There's a lot of good shows coming up. Posessed, Agalloch, and Candlemass I'm really looking forward to.

I'm skipping school because it's -31C outside. It's sweet to finally have a day of sitting at home doing nothing again. :)

Nostalgia 01-28-2008 12:19 PM

I'm off today, and I don't think I'll have school tomorrow either. Supposed to get four inches tonight. :D

You must live in Winterpeg or something. It's 1 degree out here.

Same here, I only got 1 inch at home but there are like 4 inches in town, and my friend has like 7.

TojesDolan 01-28-2008 12:24 PM

I like it in here. But I think I'll go to the gym for a little, pretty while.

I love how you get the day off for four inches of snow. That's depressing, hilarious and frightening at the same time.

Nostalgia 01-28-2008 12:27 PM

It's because of ice, not snow. If we get 1/2 an inch and there's ice on the road school will be canceled.

I dunno why you're surprised. We kind of live in different countries and all.

It's not like we have different climates.

You dont have salters in the US? Plows? It's just bizarre to me.

Nostalgia 01-28-2008 12:29 PM

Your sarcasm detector isn't built for R&M apparently.

Angmar 01-28-2008 12:30 PM

Our school usually won't get canceled unless there is like 6+ inches in town and lots of ice, but if there is snow period you can usually count on a 2 hour delay.

AA-12 01-28-2008 12:31 PM

i googled salter and found this

**** yeah huge fish

Tyr 01-28-2008 12:33 PM

I never got a day off because of snow.

Tyler 01-28-2008 12:34 PM

School has only officially been cancelled for me once, and it was actually for about a week, when we got this massive snow storm back in 1998/1999. It was ludicrous. But we put the Canadian Army to good use and made them help shovel.

I'm also spoiled living in a major metropolis (or just outside of the downtown metropolis), but I mean it's still Canada.

Nostalgia 01-28-2008 12:35 PM

I dunno, it's always been like that in my school district. Since a large portion of the school drives I guess they're just worried of injuring students when the can just cancel a single day of school.

It's the only explanation, really, haha.

AA-12 01-28-2008 12:36 PM
I never got a day off because of snow.
Same but it doesn't ever snow here. We've had a shitload of hurricane days though.

Tyler 01-28-2008 12:38 PM

We have had days where they say not to come if you can't though. Unless you're in walking distance or it's a safe drive. But it's more or less never come down to school getting cancelled. At most, you'd go in and watch movies.
