I mean it's ok if they do that for some parts for just the crushing effect, but just not all the time. There's a fine balance in making sure your bass lines are complimenting the band well enough.

I also hope that they have a great new instrumental that rivals Orion and The Call of Ktulu. That would be what I would look forward to the most.

I'm more a fan of Call Of Ktulu than Orion. The intro just perfectly recreates the feeling I get when I'm reading the book.

Have you guys seen the live version of Dyers Eve available on Google Video? It's awsome! After the intro, before the little bit on drums, James says, "are you sure about this?!" and the crowd starts roaring :lol:

I've read the book and have listened to the song countless times. They're both fantastic. I'll try and listen and read them at the same time in the near future.

The epic ending of "The Call of Ktulu" cannot be beat by just about any other Metallica song. You know, the part that goes...

Yeah, the ending is great,as is the whole song. But that intro...it gives me shivers when I'm listening to it and begin to think of being on a boat on a stormy night and seeing the tips of the city of R'lyeh. They really did a good job with the feeling of it all.

Yeah i love songs that have a riff that sounds scary. However i like Creeping Death the most on 'Rise the lightning'.

Creeping Death comes in at a close second to Ktulu for me. With Ride The Lightning and Fade To Black close behind.

I'd rate Reload over Load & Saint Anger anyday.

Load has ownly 2 good songs and thats Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn.
Saint Anger there is virtually no song on there I can get to grips with Lar's sort out your damn tincan snare.

Reload good album why? Does'nt try to sound that different and keeps the songs relatively similiar good songs for example:
Fuel, The Memory Remains, Unforgiven II, Where The Wild Things Are, Carp Deem Baby and Low Man Lyric.

Glad to see that we have some more RTL fanboys in the house. That's by far Metallica's best album IMO.

From trujillo playing I doubt he'll just play the root or the same as guitar an octave lower, I think he may come up with some nice alternative basslines

I think nearly everyone's favourite album here is RTL.

Hopefully Trujillo doesn't try to be like Jason was and recreate of the guitar work onto bass. I'm hoping that he livin' things up a bit.

Instrumental wise it's either got to be Ktulu or To Live is to Die. Orion is good but it's just to simple and repeative for me to take it over Ktulu or TLITD.

Personally I like AJFA = MoP > RTL

For me:
RTL > MOP > AJFA > Black Album > KEA

I don't even really listen to any of their other albums any more, so I'm not even going to include them.

I like stuff from Metallica that's kind of not the norm for other Metallica Fans.

AJFA = MoP > ReLoad > Garage Inc. > RTL > BlacK = KEA > St. Anger = Load

Ewwww, you liked ReLoad? I thought that it was the biggest piece of trash ever, with the exception of "The Unforgiven II". They really got it right with that song.

Yeah, I really like ReLoad. The bassline in Devil's Dance, Carpe Diem Baby, Fixer, Low Man's Lryic, etc. The only songs I don't really care for are the first few tracks

I just totally forgot about that album, but I don't really care. Old Metallica is all that really matters.

I enjoyed St. Anger myself and I think it's a bit underrated and not as bad as people think. The sound they were going for was met and they did a good job of it.

123, MoP and AJFA are somewhat great progressive metal albums with a little bit of some thrash features and I just love that sound. If they put the bass a little up in AFJA then that would be , IMHO, the best album ever made.

Its probably AJFA > MOP for me but I wasnt too sure so i put it as AJFA = MoP
