today i've been trying to dig Ryan Adams' Cold Roses but every time it plays "Sweet Illusions" i repeat it until i'm tired of Ryan Adams.
Man, Johnette is a really bad name. I AM NOW DIGGING MUSIC IN THE PROPER DIGGING THREAD: Dmitri Shostakovich - Shostakovich String Quartets
i downloaded that from the blog thingy you linked yesterday and gave it listen. i don't listen to classical music often but i really, really enjoyed it. |
I'm currently digging Animal Collective harder than I ever have before.

SixFtHick - Canetrash
Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris Wilco - Sky Blue Sky I don't get why people don't like Era Vulgaris. I think it's great. They're one of the few bands you can safely say have made a progression or change from the previous album on every occasion. |
Voxtrot
a little disappointed with their debut but their two EPs are ace. oh and they're fun live. |
Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place I still don't see why people are so blown away by this band. Next on my list of "post rock I've forgotten about" I will give GY!BE one last chance to impress me. Shall they fail my usertitle shall remain. e: wow those ellipses made that post look really annoying. eII: maybe its how i listen to it. Any advice from Godspeedheads on how to enjoy it? |
don't like porcupine tree.

Take acid. Or be kind of sleepy while listening to it. Or just recognize the fact that it's pretty impressive to play instrumental songs twenty something minutes long that sound cool the whole way through. I dunno. They're not for everyone. |
I don't think godspeed is really an acid band, but nice try.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat. My uni symphonic wind ensemble performed some Shostakovich at a concert I went to last semester though, I really liked it. I also downloaded the Lutoslawski from the mailing list (Thanks Thanks!), might be worth checking out if you haven't already. |
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Dandelion Gum
Pretty cool stuff. Good chilling out music. |

eII: maybe its how i listen to it. Any advice from Godspeedheads on how to enjoy it?
I agree with the "be sleepy" statement. If you're sorta out of it, you will forget the not so exciting parts, but when they hit the cresendos, you might flop back into existence. (Perhaps try Lift Your Skinny Fists...) On the other hand, you might want to just try Yanqui UXO when normally listening to music. It has the least silence and the most continual flow of music. It was the album that got me into them. edit: currently enjoying: Yann Tieren- Black Session Air- Moon Safari Magyar Posse- Some live conert |
