I think baritones sound ugly, but then again I'm using a '70s baritone through a bass amp and a Big Muff with the original set of strings.

Yes, I'm aware that Dallas and Karl use .70s, that was the reference.
One or both of them use baritones though

For me it would go AJFA>MoP>RTL>Live ****>Garage Inc.>ReLoad>St. Anger>Load>Black>KEA>S&M

vashts80 03-04-2006 03:34 PM

Nile's guitarists? I know that Karl does, but I don't know if Dallas does since he has (afaik non-custom) Deans. If you're talking about Hetfield or Hammett, I think Hetfield only uses his on Some Kind of Monster or something

BLS_Infernus 03-04-2006 03:37 PM

SkoM is a 7 string, he uses a baritone on Invisble Kid. Kirk's baritone usage is when he uses his KH-2 with Frankenstein on the body. (St.Anger DVD FTW)

vashts80 03-04-2006 03:39 PM

Wee, tabbing out the drums to Nile in guitarpro is fun stuff. Except I can't figure out this fill because it's too fast for me to see.

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 03:57 PM

Which song?

vashts80 03-04-2006 04:33 PM

Black Seeds of Vengeance. The entire song is too fast beyond my comprehension, haha

Oh, Nile's drummer. *rolls eyes in amazement*

Thumper 03-04-2006 04:53 PM

meh might aswell tell it theres a new album coming out this year or next and its produced Rick Rubin(most would know that already) but its meant to be a mix of MoP, Ride and Load

vashts80 03-04-2006 04:55 PM

I highly, highly doubt that it's going to be a mix of those three. And welcome to three weeks ago, with the anouncement that Ricky is producing it

Thor 03-04-2006 04:55 PM

So it's a mix of bad and good, making that to be an average album? That's the vibe I'm getting here.

Stormrider 03-04-2006 04:58 PM

But the good overshadows the bad I suppose :p

This is actualy silly of me to say because I havnt actualy heard Load.

Well once again, you really don't need to. If you're a true die hard Metallica fan then I guess you should just because it's important to see how they've changed over the years. If you just listen to them casually then I suggest you keep your distance.

I'm not a die hard Metallica fan. I listen to them once in a while, well MoP, Justice, KEA and RTL. Havn't in a while.

So I guess I keep my distance :p Meh, Like I said before, it never realy bothered me so I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm Charming 03-04-2006 05:07 PM

Last time "they were going back to their roots" and whatnot with St Anger.

That turned out terrible.

and now we're suposed to believe they are coming back with a hybrid between Ride , MoP and Load?

I doubt it.

I'll dl when it's leaked or comes out and see what I think though.

Rick might have a good effect on them. He produced a great Slipknot album outta a band that was average before Vol 3 so I'll keep an open mind though.

BLS_Infernus 03-04-2006 05:11 PM

I highly doubt Metallica wants to go to there roots and have a thrashy/progressive sound. Metallica isn't one to re-do the same sound over and over again.

Kill Em All near last place!? What?! And yeah, I didn't include anything like S&M, Garage Inc., or Cunning Stunts, But they'd probably all be between Black and Load.

Dudes, Load has Outlaw Torn.

I just don't like the sound of the production or the modded Marshall's James and Kirk used on KEA. Cliff's bass sound wasn't that good either.

i agree

they improved on MoP, its tied for my fav with the balck album

I tryed that once, I got bored cause I couldn't hear the guitars, the sound is just ugh.
I tryed that once, I got bored cause I couldn't hear the guitars, the sound is just ugh.
Yeah, thats the only Nile album I have and the production is so bad for the guitars on that album. They're face live though.

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 06:36 PM

You've seen them live?

BLS_Infernus 03-04-2006 06:46 PM
You've seen them live?
Yeah, I couldn't hear (after) or understand a word there vocalist was singing though. They are very loud and that tuning in A is just a beast with there modded DSLs
Yeah, thats the only Nile album I have and the production is so bad for the guitars on that album. They're face live though.
Honestly, I think they should try and get the masters and have Neil Kernon remix and remaster it. The production on that album is completely terrible imo, you can't hear a thing out of the guitars other than muddyness.

I've been using a couple videos for the BSOV drums (a video Kollias has on his site and BSOV @ Wacken 03, mainly) but it just flies around.

BLS_Infernus 03-04-2006 10:17 PM

That's just why he kicks ***. One of the best I've seen that I really enjoyed.

Lars said he is focusing on his drum sound on this album so that's a +

Apocalyptic Raids 03-04-2006 10:20 PM

Yeah, I never liked Black Seeds Of Vengeance much at all.

BLS_Infernus 03-04-2006 10:31 PM

The production is just horrible on BSoV and that's why it sucked for me. Live it's like 100x better.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-04-2006 10:38 PM

Yeah the prouction is the main down point.

The title track is quite good live.

I only like about half of AJFA, unless it's live. What's with S&M? Not a fan of the orchestra?

Nah, not really. Kind of sounds like an overboard keyboard and I hate those.

I've never been able to like that song. Plus I can't stand it even more after I saw Metallica. They were playing the intro to Frayed Ends of Sanity, then stopped to play that song. It was a disappointment.

Ah...i see now. I keep thinking of the mummy wen someone metions his KH-2. I never knew that was in baritone though. and i cetainly didnt know Invisible Kid was in baritone. i thought it was in Db.
So it's a mix of bad and good, making that to be an average album? That's the vibe I'm getting here.
why are people always slagging of Load? Load is a fantastic album but what most people don't do is seperate themselves from their previous work. If you listen to Load forgotten about what they have previously done and you realise that Load is actually a very good rock album, I love every song on that album, which I can't say for AJFA or Black.

I don't think we've seen the best of trujillo yet hopefully this will change my estimations of him (I know hes good)

Trujillo doesn't look like a happy bunny in the decent pics of them in the studio from metallica.com

I think he's concentrating. When I'm concentrating really hard I look like I'm about to kill someone.

Trujillo is a solid bassist. Can't wait to hear what he comes up with on the new album.

Jev 03-05-2006 08:59 AM

I hope he brings some funk elements to it.

YouGottaBeCrazy 03-05-2006 09:01 AM
I hope he brings some funk elements to it.
As long as they don't start sounding like old-school Mudvayne, then I have no problem with that.

Thor 03-05-2006 11:03 AM
I hope he brings some funk elements to it.
I hope he just stays prominent throughout the record. I don't like bassists who back up the guitarists the entire time.

Jev 03-05-2006 11:09 AM

Hmm yeah, I wouldn't like to hear basslines that are just the guitar lines an octave or two lower.
