It's basically just a guy and his girlfriend chopping up a bunch of zombies. I haven't heard of this Trash Films thing. Is it a weekly event?

ATM 07-13-2006 03:53 PM

Yeah, every Sat.

Next week: Frankenhooker.

Daniel! 07-13-2006 03:58 PM

I might have to check that out some time. The only time I've been to Crest is to see Bruce Cambell do a showing of The Man With the Screaming Brain, or something like that. The movie wasn't anything special, but I got to see Bruce Cambell in person, so I was happy.

Robert Crumb 07-13-2006 04:06 PM

It's a nice little theater. I like to go when I have time during the day, avoid people and all.

Bruce Campbell was at Borders like a year ago for his book tour. I wanted to go but I wouldn't have had anything for him to sign. I guess I could have bought his book.

Daniel! 07-13-2006 04:13 PM

I don't think I have his new book, but I did buy If Chins Could Kill about a year ago and it's good. It's mostly about how he and Sam Raimi made the Evil Dead's and various other things. His writing style is enjoyable enough that it doesn't really matter what he's talking about, though.

Glitterati 07-13-2006 04:36 PM

I read If Chins Could Kill on vacation a few weeks back, it was hilarious. I liked how he showed all his old school photos and underneath it said stuff like "Look out, ladies!"

Robert Crumb 07-14-2006 03:59 PM

If Chins Could Kill was the one he was touring for, I think.

Bought tickets to go see Os Mutantes today. And just looked at the new Last.Fm, pretty neat. I'm not sure I like the pictures next to the recently played thingie, though.

Kyle 07-14-2006 04:05 PM

I bought Muse tickets today, I'm seeing them twice this year, so I hope they live up to their outstanding live reputation.

I also wrote a review, think I'm gonna get back into the swing of reviewing. I'm gonna plug it now, because it got virtually no attention and I don't want to bump it myself!

Robert Crumb 07-14-2006 04:11 PM

Muse were nice fun when I saw them. They played a little Deftones' "My Own Summer" segue which everybody here loved because this is the Deftones' home town.

Kyle 07-14-2006 04:18 PM

Sounds cool, I've never been a huge fan of them, but their new album is my favorite release this year, it really took me by suprise.

superpeer 07-14-2006 04:22 PM

Muse are awesome live.

br3ad_man 07-14-2006 04:29 PM

They were pretty awesome when I saw them 2 years ago.

So I got back from UofM just a bit ago. I was there for orientation. It was a drag of a couple days, but I have a schedule.

I'm taking Intro To Computer Music, Piano 111, Music Theory 139 (written), Music Theory 149 (aural), Calculus I, Private Trumpet Lessons, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Lab Band, for 18 credits.

I will either drop trumpet lessons, or jazz lab band. I've got 6 credits devoted to trumpet study, and that's a lot of focus on something that isn't my main concern. I am in Performing Arts Technology; intro to computer music is the only class within the discipline that people in my major take their first semester. Despite the fact that it's just one course, I want to focus on the PAT related stuff I'll be learning. Having that much invested in trumpet performance—which is fun, but nothing I'm extremely good at or passionate about—will distract me from that more important goal.

Your first year looks to be awesome, save Calc, but I guess you'd enjoy that too. I don't have a lot to look forward to this year, so I'm hoping to get a slot in Basic Kanji before school starts. If I do I'd definitely have a lot less to complain about, like night classes.

Where are you going to school?

Also, I just found out that my professor for that course has a record out on Tzadik, John Zorn's label. That's pretty cool.

EDIT: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll reveals that he was also drummer for Swans and played guitar with Glenn Branca. Holy shit.

Zappa's livin' the dream.

Glitterati 07-15-2006 12:07 PM

i had some dreams last night

one where i was at a restaurant, one where i was at this really weird swimming pool where my shorts nearly washed off, then that turned into a library where a guy shot me in the face for calling him a crazy f'uck, and somewhere in there i kissed this girl i really like (twice, yo).

np: Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell

winner by default!

Zappa 07-15-2006 01:43 PM

Last night I dreamt that I was pursuing some German girls in a hallway. I can only speak a little German, so I was struggling to speak to them, and they laughed at me.

YDload 07-15-2006 02:31 PM

i dreamed that some black guy (i think it was morgan freeman) was fighting robots in an old school building. i think i've been watching I, Robot on HBO too many times.

and then after he defeated the robots i appeared in his place, except it was a few minutes earlier. so i had to do everything that he just did, but i was like "Fuck this" and ran up a stairwell to the top of the building while the robots were killing everyone. Then I jumped off the building and woke up as soon as I hit bottom :)

Kyle 07-15-2006 03:05 PM

Hey YDload, is the idea for an A/I guitarists poll scrapped or what?
