So everything to do with having respect for a band surrounds your own personal possessions and wants? Having a care in the world about what they wish to happen for their new record is just rediculous right?

well, kind of...

I dont expect anyone else to give a flying fuk for my personal wishes, and I dont see why anyone else is egotistical enough to think anyone cares about theirs.

The only people's wishes i care about and take to heart are my immediate family, and my girl. Outside of that, well, its just that.

Prince of Darkness 04-27-2006 07:45 AM
Tell me what you think it means to have respect for famous musicians.
exactly what Che said.
That's respect. Tool appreciate that. If I download an album, I buy it if it's good.
In Tool's case, I just buy it anyway, because I'm in love with Tool and I BUY their album when I see it.

If they want to release albums every 5 years, so be it. But they are just creating huge hype behind their albums that force people to d/l it, but then they buy it anyway because of the respect they have for Tool.

kurrpt 04-27-2006 07:47 AM

i think he just has an idealistic approach. They are not my Maker or my God

infinate_ammo 04-27-2006 07:50 AM

Well then I guess it's game over for me and anyone else who has the slightest of respect for musicians and what they intend to do with their own original material.
But hey who gives a fuck, atleast your own greed has been pleased for a short amount of time, and that's what matters guys.

your opinion of greed is obviously skewed. If you think you have a more mature sense of "respect" for musicians, I think you would be a little nieve. Obviously, if we were greedy, we would be making copies of the leaked album and selling them on the streets for cash money...

..or buying all the tickets available for shows, and selling them at 500 bucks a seat on ebay.

As far as you being the judge/jury, id LOVE to check your harddrive and see how many albums on there you DON'T own.

Also, I know you are an avid gamer so it would also be amusing to see how many roms you've downloaded in the past 5 years

NP : TOoL - The Pot (Infinite Ammo, this is for you)
I never knew you were Australian?
Well I am.

infinate_ammo 04-27-2006 08:01 AM

I will make sure I pay particular attention to 'the Pot' when I get the album tomorrow night.

You can stop arguing with me because I give up, I guess there is just no place in the world for respecting those we are not directly involved with, even if we are big fans.

i could argue that I'm EASILY a bigger fan than you, and i dont see what point you are trying to make besides "we suck for DL'ing the album"

get the fuk over it. Im sure TOoL already has

Spiritofmosa 04-27-2006 08:08 AM

actually its more of the tool fanboys that download the leak because they cant resist the temptation. i'm more patient and will get the album on tuesday.. other will pass by the cd store and go ' hey i didnt know tool released a new album' and they buy off the album/
the bottomline - ' who leaked the album ? '

kurrpt 04-27-2006 08:09 AM

honestly...

i want to make out with the person responsible for leaking the album

infinate_ammo 04-27-2006 08:09 AM

I'm not saying you suck for downloading the album, I'm saying everything sucks because no one has respect for anythign anymore.
I'm not saying you suck for downloading the album, I'm saying everything sucks because no one has respect for anythign anymore.
well, you have YET to be able to refute my previous claims, but inherently, your statement could be argued. I just think its unfounded

Adam Jones is GOD 04-27-2006 08:20 AM

The leak was supposedly from one of the big online CD stores, when they got their review copy. So ill hook you up with some amazon employee Che

Just to put across my point as another non-downloader, it was my personal desire to wait for the CD, not because I felt guilty about getting it before im supposed to. Anyone who downloaded the album and buys it are not some bad person, (just a lil impatient :p.)
Those who download it, and then contribute nothing financially towards the band are the crooks

ween2424 04-27-2006 08:26 AM

I got the cd burned from a friend but I'm buying the album so I can see the artwork.

"foot in mouth and head up a**hole, whatcha talkin bout?"

Huber 04-27-2006 08:26 AM

I downloaded it, even after all my preaching of it being better to wait :) Oh well, I think I have a decent excuse.

I'll buy it, and I joined the Tool Army. The Collective is expensive.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-27-2006 08:27 AM

Pre-ordered my copy today at my record store. They also put me down for Pearl Jam's album, though not sure if ill be picking that up straight away

kurrpt 04-27-2006 08:31 AM

i would argue against your last point as well AJIG. True, they may not be DIRECTLY helping the band for a finacial stand point, but they could influence others to get into the band through an in-direct manner, who could in turn contribute finacially to the band.

examples of this were how i got my friends into TOoL in the 90s. Listen to the albums a few times, burn them CDs, they in turn go out and buy albums 1-4
