To everyone who downloaded the album before it came out. This quote is directly from the latest issue of Rave Magazine.
Everything about it is controlled; as you enter the room your personal possessions such as mobile phones and the like are taken from you and placed in safe keeping for pick up after the album has been played one solitary time. “It’s necessary because we want to control the way the album is presented,” drummer Danny Carey tetchily confirms, before confirming that the reaction to the album has been overwhelmingly positive, even if the interview process itself does vary. “In Germany it’s like an interrogation.” In some respects that is exactly what it feels like to be able to approach the band too – documents must be signed, waivers waived. “In this day and age that’s the way it needs to be,” he asserts. “We want to have an impact when the record comes out, and we want to do it on our terms. We’re control freaks, but we’re control freaks for a reason and we have our experience and ability to get our job done, and no one is going to be our jobs for us.”
http://www.ravemag.com.au/raveweb.pdf (The article is on page 4) Congradulations, you have completely and utterly disrespected Tool. |
I wonder why he would make that quote up then.
I thought it was pretty obvious. Oh well, as long as RideTheSpiral is happy and Tool doesn't re-release Salival, I guess I'll have to be content with nothing at all. Oh, scratch that, I can scrounge up a few hundred dollars for it. How rude of me. |

How is this disrespecting Tool? I had it sent to me, listened to it, and when it is sold on the 2nd in the states I will buy 2 copies of it. I'll listen to one copy and put the 2nd copy with all my other unopened Tool CD's. I find it amazing how many people in this thread want to chastise people for having an opinion. Isn't this one of Tool's collective points, for everyone to "Think for yourself"? People are entitled to their own opinion. If I don't like the new CD so what, I am still a Tool fan and will listen to their past recordings almost daily. |

i still dont see your point infi ammo

Personally I don't think too much of Maynard, but when a band goes to great lenghts to protect there music and keep it under wraps until the day it is released only to have there so called "fans" download it in advance I find it very disrespectful.

Who cares. It should be taken as a compliment. |

but then buying it the day it comes out. They would like that very much. I'll be buying my copy the second I see it. I downloaded it. I don't care. What Tool are afraid of is that people will d/l the album, then NOT buy it. This probably will happen, but I shall be buying it. So I don't disrespect Tool at all imo. |
its their interpretation really. I dont give a flying horses arse if they find my DL disrespectful, etc
I've given them enough of my money, and I'm not about to stop any time in the near future. If they wanna blame someone, blame the person who was responsible for the initial leak |

honestly, i couldnt tell ya. This is the first album i ever cared about getting the leak of  |
Ok then fuck it. Lets all disregard the fact that Danny says they want to make an impact with there new record by keeping it under wraps until release, because having respect for anything or anyone is absolutely rediculous concept. GG, greed prevails.

i dont see how this has anything to do with anything. They are still gonna get their money. Their shows are STILL sold out. What more would they want? O, they had a special tea party planned, and now the Paddington Bear isn't gonna show  the leaked album changes nothing |

We already disregarded and not an ounce of guilt among us. |

Are you blaming us for the leak? Fuk off. |
When I was a kid I didn't open my christmas presents until christmas morning out of pure respect for my mother. The presents were under the tree for weeks before christmas but this didn't mean I had to be a greedy fuck open everything up.
|

Infinite Ammo, What do you want from us?
|
Does anyone here respect musicians?
|
I don't really get his point. I don't think he has one.
|
Does anyone here respect musicians?

Does anyone here respect musicians?
I am a musician.. so you're asking do I respect myself? Of course :D |
I'm still buying the album, so yes I do have respect for Musicians.
Infinite ammo. Are you telling me you NEVER downloaded an album? |
I'm talking more famous musicians.
|

Tool don't want to be considered famous. Way to contradict yourself. |
I'm talking more famous musicians.
how do want us to show respect? Give them money? Go to their shows? Wake up hours early on my Saturday off in hopes of getting tickets, only to be shat in the face my scalpers? Having more T-shirts that don their name than anything else i can think of? Learning countless songs/riffs by members of their band? Re-buying albums because i played out the previous ones? If you expect me to do anything else outside of the aformentioned things, you are fukking nuts/stupid/retarded/etc. As far as the people in the band, and their "wishes" its not really my perogative, nor my priority to give a shizz |
