Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me

Been listening to this after I saw them for free last night in an audience of about 200. They played kind of a semi-acoustic set for about an hour and 45 minutes and Jesse answered questions from the audience. Some great songs on this album.

tartar lamb - sixty metonymies

br3ad_man 06-12-2007 07:28 AM

Thoughts?

I'm waiting for it to come in the mail.

Eliminator 06-12-2007 07:47 AM

its good
drags a little in places though, mostly when there isn't some kind of percussion.

Tiger Trap - Tiger Trap
Asian Dub Foundation - Community Music
Devin Davis - Lonely People of the World, Unite!

Three albums I should really be endeavouring to get in physical form, though last I checked that might be a bit difficult for Tiger Trap, which is a shame, as it's pretty good. Indie pop or something. I don't care. I like it.

Tim Minchin - Dark Side
Tim Minchin - So Rock

Still great, still my new favourite Australian. Unfortunately a lot of the songs I first got to know him by ("Adam Hillsong", "Fuck the Poor", "Donnie Darko") aren't on the albums as they were one offs for TV shows and things. The Adam Hillsong is particularly good, even if it can be a little disconcerting to find myself singing a love song to Adam Hills.

rafael anton irisarri - daydreaming

some good ambient pianoy night time listening stuff

I've been about 4 metres from him once. 'Cept I didn't speak to him which would have been cool. Although, he was wearing eyeliner and would have been freaked.

The White Stripes - Icky Thump
Helios - Ayres
This one's a little disappointing. It still evokes what it wants to evoke, but now it does it through tired vocals instead of utilizing the instrumentation. Overall, still a solid EP, but I was just hoping for a different way of using voice in his music.

Eliminator 06-12-2007 12:25 PM

how is icky thump

i saw the video this morning
it was goodkay

Kyle 06-12-2007 12:26 PM

Icky Thump is pretty good, I think.

GoGoGo Airheart - Exitheuxa
Hammock - Raising Your Voice... Trying to Stop an Echo
The Foreign Exchange - Connected

I liked the spacy rock parts on that Hammock album, and everything else I skipped.

Best Wilco album.

Eliminator 06-12-2007 01:28 PM

false.

being there is.

then it's a three-way tie between summerteeth, YHF, and kicking television
and then mermaid avenue
and i haven't heard ^2 or am or sky blue which i want to buy not download tbh

asdf 06-12-2007 01:29 PM

I have being there sitting right next to me, but I don't think I've ever actually heard it. If I have, it was years ago.

I'm just partial to summerteeth because my dad used to listen to it a lot, so I know it best.

Eliminator 06-12-2007 01:30 PM

being there has more variety than their other albums i think

Robert Crumb 06-12-2007 04:44 PM

Futurisk - Player Piano EP
Benoît Pioulard - Fir
Alain Gorageur - La Planete Sauvage
Joy Division - Closer

Futurisk is ****ing awesome. Primitive 80s synth punk. Like a more tuneful Suicide. The title track from Fir is nice, I think I like it more than anything from Precis.

Boilermaker 06-12-2007 05:38 PM

Summerteeth is my favorite Wilco album, tied with YHF and Being There.

now playing is: Bikini Kill - The C.D. Version Of The First Two Records

Zmev 06-12-2007 05:40 PM

The Who - Whos Next
Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me
