i've only listened to one of their albums once but aren't they technical/brutal death metal with a lot of slams
|
they're not "slams" whatever that means, they're just breakdowns. no different than suffocation or craptopsy they just do it with low inhale vocals.
very tech yeah but not very weedly |
how can you say they aren't slams if you don't know "whatever that means"
|
tyler arguing about technical definitions
|
well my point is you guys use different words to mention the same thing depending on whether or not you like it
|
i make my opinion of music before i even hear it based on what theyre labeled as and whos labeling them as it
|

This is such an efficient system because it saves you the time of having to listen to the crappy bands anyway. |
i do quite a lot
|
my only question becomes how can you distinguish between 'good' and 'bad' (and thus label something as good) if you avoid the 'bad'? THEORETICALLY SPEAKING
how would u kno that wat ur listenin 2 is actually 'good' hmm |
It's really quite easy.
|
its quite simple
|

music is good for me if it achieves its desired affect on me and strikes me as being a genuine expression of the musician's inner world instead of being forced and contrived (ie it isn't music for music's sake)
my 2c |
breakdowns are good, slams are bad
i would propound the opposite. that is if i made sweeping generalizations but that is just petty plus slams are generally a type of breakdown soo |
a gay type
|
my good man breakdowns dont have a sexual orientation
|
yo dawg dis slam be representin' my g's on da block
|
did u kno that suffocation invented the slam
|
ya but they also gots 2 homies 2 represent yo
|
what came first the slam or the gore
|
slam is responsible for the gore
|
gore
|
speaking of suffo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeT85ayQKPI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmmIwl0yFbI these vids are 10 min each but easily worth it to see the few minutes of suffo footage Frank getting trolled irl is priceless |

well this seems to be the case, because i'm pretty sure a lot of you are quick to hate on a lot of brutal death metal, probably before even listening to it (suffocation being one of the very few exceptions) and then it turns out people here enjoy wormed. its just surprising. |
I luv me some Brutal Death.
|
i dislike pretty much all brutal death
|
have u herd pretty much all brutal deth
|
i dislike pretty much all brutal death
suffocation |
yeah i was gonna say except suffo, but they dont really sound much like most 'modern' brutal death
the main gripe i have with brutal death is the vocals anyway, so yeah |
ya they dooooooooo
da vocals are just a matter of conditioning |
believe me ive tried, just cant do it
|
well this seems to be the case, because i'm pretty sure a lot of you are quick to hate on a lot of brutal death metal, probably before even listening to it (suffocation being one of the very few exceptions) and then it turns out people here enjoy wormed. its just surprising.
because wormed sound like most bdm bands |
they aren't radically different from most bdm bands
|
This is such an efficient system because it saves you the time of having to listen to the crappy bands anyway.
it also saves you the time of having to listen to supposedly 'good' music, you can just assume the buzz is correct and pretend you like what everyone else likes its quite nifty indeed |
have u herd pretty much all brutal deth
i hate this logic |
it also saves you the time of having to listen to supposedly 'good' music, you can just assume the buzz is correct and pretend you like what everyone else likes
its quite nifty indeed
likewise you can just assume that nobody knows what theyre talking about and automatically dislike anything you hear people talking about |
ya they dooooooooo
da vocals are just a matter of conditioning
Lol @ conditioning. Great way to put it. |
I like low gutturals myself tbh. It's not so much the vocals that ruin the music in BDM for me, it's usually the music that ruins the music.
