Jev 09-08-2005 12:41 PM

I play unplugged most of time but i love plugging in to my 100 watts of fury.

Britton 09-08-2005 12:51 PM

hell yea, I don't like to be heard when I practice, but if I'm practiving tapping or harmonics or some thing to that effect then I play through Head phones

Jev 09-08-2005 12:57 PM

I'm embarrassed to play in front of people, I don't know why.

DaveTheAmazing 09-08-2005 01:24 PM

Dear god the end solo of Fade to Black is ****ing driving me crazy. Some people here made it seem easy, but jeese i cant get past the first few notes.

Jev 09-08-2005 01:57 PM

just keep at it, you'll do it.

DaveTheAmazing 09-08-2005 02:02 PM

Yeah in like a year :-O. I dont even have an electric to play on, and the strings on my acoustic are tight as **** and allow no bending what so ever

Jev 09-08-2005 02:09 PM

It won't take a year trust me.
If you're not already playing chromatics start. Seriously within a week of starting them i noticed i was faster.

Trivium 09-08-2005 02:22 PM

fade to black solo is mad easy, first metallica solo I learned

(other than nothing else matters, but that dosnt count)

Jev 09-08-2005 02:24 PM

Yeah the last solo is mad easy bruv innit

DaveTheAmazing 09-08-2005 02:33 PM

Hey I'm doin OK :-). Apart from the tappy riffy thingies, I've got my head around most of the solo. And it's all thanks to friendship and hope :thumb:

burtonbassist_102 09-08-2005 02:34 PM
I could go and look at the S&M DVD to see if he is using a fretless playing it, but see, it can be hard to tell. I've seen him in the NEM video playing an unlined fretless, but live he could be playing a lined fretless, which without careful examination, could look just like a fretted bass.

So he could theoretically have been using one everytime they played it live too.

:smash:
yeah i have the s&m dvd and to me it looks like its a fretted

DaveTheAmazing 09-08-2005 02:34 PM

Hey btw, Happy, are you flower dance?

\m/-CHeV-\m/ 09-08-2005 02:37 PM

Hey guys, I didn't really have the time to check the 1000+ pages :p , but i heard their new album would come out at the end of the year or in the beginning of the next year.. can anyone give me some info about that?? thnx..:)

kept this thread alive well btw :)

Joe 09-08-2005 02:40 PM
That's a great idea, how about the TO LIVE IS TO DIE part when he speaks.
I was thinking that, except that's James talking
Hey btw, Happy, are you flower dance?
Fairly sure, and how do you change your name?
fade to black solo is mad easy, first metallica solo I learned

(other than nothing else matters, but that dosnt count)
The one in the middle  ?

You have to be joking or your just not playing it right. The intro solo was the first one of theirs I ever learned and I'm still perfecting it. You could play it perfectly, but it's not mad easy and it's probably not the one you learned PERFECTLY first.
Dear god the end solo of Fade to Black is ****ing driving me crazy. Some people here made it seem easy, but jeese i cant get past the first few notes
Still perfecting it
My parents like my playing but I live in appartments and I'm surrounded by neighbors. So my amp volume rarely goes above 2. Shame I cant use the 40 watts to their full potential, even with a Digitech RP50 efeects pedal.
I live in a townhouse with a 150 Watt amp, I know what you mean.
are metallica in the studio currently?
Nope.
Hey guys, I didn't really have the time to check the 1000+ pages , but i heard their new album would come out at the end of the year or in the beginning of the next year.. can anyone give me some info about that?? thnx..
Like I just said, they're not in studios yet. My Metallica friends at school speculate that they'll be in studios in a few months. End of '06 early '07 sounds about right. They also suspect a tour with Megadeth afterwards. That'd be so cool, but I wouldn't mind seeing some other newer metal bands like DT or something (I know they aren't new but you know what I mean)

Jev 09-08-2005 02:48 PM

Yes, I am Flower Dance.
Go to the site forum and ask DBJ to change your name in his "account merges/changes" thread.

fade 2 blackened 09-08-2005 02:56 PM

wouldn't it be cool if metallica and megadeth members mixed to gether for a concert(Like James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Megadeth's bassist who's name eludes me, and Lars Ulrich play together.)? Like they could play Four Hourseman/Mechanix and interchange the lyrics(Like have some of James' lines, then have Dave's lines.

I doubt it will happen though. :(

Jev 09-08-2005 03:00 PM

I think Megadeth's drummer should play instead of Lars. He's about 20 times better.

MRDuCran 09-08-2005 03:00 PM

I thought Megadeth have finished touring?

Jev 09-08-2005 03:03 PM

yeah but there's still hope.

fade 2 blackened 09-08-2005 03:06 PM

I wonder where Metallica would be if Mustaine was still in? Would the Black Album, the Loads, and St Anger have been created?

Father_Jack 09-08-2005 03:08 PM

Even james is better than lars :amaze:
I wonder where Metallica would be if Mustaine was still in? Would the Black Album, the Loads, and St Anger have been created?
Yeah, but wouldn't have come out half as well as they did. Kirk has much more originality than Mustaine. Songs like Enter Sandman would have never existed. I must say Seek & Destroy is a good song though.

Joe 09-08-2005 03:13 PM
I thought Megadeth have finished touring?
For now. Metallica won't tour for another year or so
I wonder where Metallica would be if Mustaine was still in? Would the Black Album, the Loads, and St Anger have been created?
Yes because he wasn't their main writer. They'd exsist, but they'd be a lot different

Britton 09-08-2005 03:17 PM

James is the ****ing bomb. I know all the notes to the fade to black solo'sbut good
luck on me staying in time with kirk. it's from the official tab book and I get so lost.

ps dave you might want to wait until you get a electric to try any solo's
acoustic guitars are beautiful but not made for those Metallica solo's
if you like godsmack you should try their solo's off "The other side"

Quickdrop 09-08-2005 03:50 PM

The otherside was a stupid album in my opinion. They used to have such a gothic and satanic image back with their self titled cd, now they dont. That band has sucked since Tommy left.

But back to Metallica discussion. Currently listening to: Of Wolf and Man

Britton 09-08-2005 04:03 PM

their still talanted even if they are not "mad" any more like sully said

Britton 09-08-2005 04:11 PM

where do I get a mod to delete a thread?

perhaps quite different...probably more guitar-technically-focused

but if cliff didnt perish...it would be much different my friend...

RIP Cliff

Jaymz is technically better than Larz, definentley. But Larz, IMO, has a better attitude with the drums(especially with pre-Load concerts). Larz needs to upsize the kit again and get that "swinging rythmical **** going back on the drums again"(quote of A Year and a Hald Pt.1, for those who didn't know). Also, they need to lose the low tunings. Jaymz's vocals are good for Eb(still think they should keep pre-Load at E because Eb messes with the songs feel) and Drop D, but, if I remember right, Sweet Amber is Drop A or G#, way too low.
