I really don't like Varg anymore, he bit the big one with those two ambient albums and hammered the nail in the coffin with Belus.

Listen to a song like Glemselens elv, it is weak, it says nothing. The atmosphere and magic is gone. Varg's influence on the development of the scene cannot be understated but his work is really is just as weak and contemptible nowadays as the slew of generic bands he claims to despise so much.

Belus is good as hell, a few of the songs totally repeat themes from the ambient albums but in listenable fashion, as in the ambient albums sound like a joke. Freaking playschool keyboard tone.

Belus lived up to my expectations, it's a logical progression in Burzum's sound, and kind of what I... well expected.
