Thankfully i've not met many like that recently, it was unberable back around 13th Step release though. Most i've talked to are simply interested in getting into Tool, or have been casual fans for a while.

It helps that Vicarious is (finally) getting UK airplay. My inbox was full of emails from friends and associates telling me they've heard it, and most had good comments on it

i was amazed/impressed to no end yesterday...


i forgot my iPOD, so my bro and I had no music at all. On the way back from dropping him off, i wanted to hear Vicarious so bad, but figured it wouldnt be played. 5 minutes after turning on the radio, BLOW!!! Vicarious is on.

I was surprised how well they cut 2 minutes out of the song, not that I condone that mind you

Cutting two minutes was probably a good idea. Vicarious has some "nothing is really happening" parts.

You can really say that about any song.

Well yeah but objectively speaking... There isn't that much of a tune in alot of that song.

its just meant to build up the song...

i rather like those parts. To me, wings/wings 2 has a shizz load of that, but you know what, if they got rid of those parts, it wouldnt be nearly as good

Well I haven't heard those songs but I have a grudge (punzorz) against the single. Just sounded like meh.

I honestly like Vicarious, and all of its parts. Saying that the song has a "nothing is going on here" part is really what the listener interprets. I'm sure Tool would tell you otherwise.

The disk full of B-sides, live tracks and covers that you probably already downloaded. And the DVD with all the pre Lateralus videos on. So a lot makes it good. Plus it looks great on your shelf

Haha anyone who doesn't think Tool is commercial is very naeive. They've tapped right into the teenage market by giving themselves the mystical image that people love.

The limited release of Salival was probably done with a re-release in mind.

Releasing DVD singles? Cmon people. Tool is a business. I'm not saying they make bad music but Maynard has created the perfect musical corporation.

Ya, I would be lucky to hear it once if I listened to the radio around here all ****ing day, but I can't go an hour without hearing Godsmack and Mudvaynes new songs a million times.

Well if thats what they are trying to do, they could be doing a much better job, in my opinion. I've seen plenty of interviews with Maynard and judging from how he acts and what he says in those, and everything else Tool does I have formed my own opinion. Just because I don't agree with your absurd claims doesn't mean that I am some blindfolded little Tool fanboy. What your saying doesn't make any sense to me and you have not posted anything intelligent or factual to back it up so maybe you should open your ****ing mind.

So anyways, I was pretty disapointed with Adams guitar work on Vicarious, anyone one else?

Well, so far the new album was definitely worth the wait, IMO. I really like it.

Tool are a commercial band though, no question. Not sellouts or radio friendly like say, Fall Out Boy or something. Ugh, Tool and Fall Out Boy in the same sentence... anyways, Tool have made a lot of money so they are commercial, but they are definitely a band with artistic integrity, and they have never compromised their integrity, they just made a lot of money because Tool are a great band and have gotten a loyal following.

I am playing Schism on guitar right now. Plus, I am loving everything I have recently gotten by them.

They are selling good music with their own ideas, opinions and thoughts in it, nothing else. I don't see them trying to present an image to draw in a certain crowd, or write a song to appeal to a certain group of people. For some reason that bothers you, I don't know why, but I'm just going to ignore you until you have something intelligent to say or some factual basis to back up your opinion.
