Thanks. :)

Hows my recording quality?

ArcLite 03-01-2005 03:31 AM

It was a little short to make good judgement, but it sounds good so far.

BoboTheRagingHobo 03-01-2005 03:36 AM

Recording quality = raw black metal still.

Are you joking? Because I'm recording through a POD xt which cost me 300$.

Well, if you're confident that your production is decent perhaps your tone needs a little tweaking. Just a thought.

I'm tweaking as we speak, another recording will be posted. :) THank you.

Ramsey 03-01-2005 04:16 AM

Ok, I worked it out.

Let me know what you think.

I think (imo) I hit it pretty close, almost the same level of studio quality.

Ramsey 03-01-2005 04:22 AM

Eh? EHHH? :p

ArcLite 03-01-2005 04:24 AM
Eh? EHHH? :p
Production sounds pretty damn good. IMO the tone is a little too chunky but that may be the way you want it.

Thank you. I feel like I hit it pretty close with this one, I could almost pass it on for a studio recording.

If your wondering, I'm using Meshuggahs custom tone, that I downloaded from their site (Meshuggah only record with PODS, and nothing else, so this is about as Meshuggah as you can get, with the exception of 8 string guitars)

Ramsey 03-01-2005 04:28 AM

Btw, CJ, I bet you could make an awesome recording of that Iced Earth song with a pod man. They're expensive, but even if you aren't going to make it big, and are just doing it for a hobby, its still ALOT of fun, and it has endless possibilities, also has great tone (as you heard just now)

Good shit. You'll have to post the final work when its done.

Will do man. I need a keyboard to make it sound authentic though heh.

I've thought about getting one. Haven't decided whether I want of those or a new guitar. It's a USB connection into your comp right?
I've thought about getting one. Haven't decided whether I want of those or a new guitar. It's a USB connection into your comp right?
Yeah, but I'm not using the USB to record, I'm using my crap soundcard, so considering the circumstances, the POD is giving me a great tone to compensate for my soundcard.

I WOULD record with the USB cable, but the problem with that is that I need to by a POD special program, I just don't have 50 bucks at the mo though.

I bet it would sound incredible through USB though, this is still good enough for me imo.

BTW, even if you have a crap guitar, POD does wonders. I've heard some recordings of people with the worst guitars, through pods, and you couldn't tell that a bad guitar was being used. Its all in how you work with your pod, and how you use the features on Cooledit/Acid Pro etc

ArcLite 03-01-2005 04:38 AM

Interesting. I just read that it has digital out recording supported by 3rd party apps, meaning that you wouldn't need the POD program, howver I may have misinterpretted that.

My guitar is a Ibanez SZ320. Not great but not bad.

Well, I probably haven't figured it out yet. I don't see a digital out port, but theres Midi and a usb port. Meh. But if you mean, you don't need the POD program Guitarport, then yeah, you don't need that. All guitarport does is make your computer a POD (and its easier that way imo).

As for your guitar, on the Iced Earth recording, it was already very decent sounding (I say that with all honesty) , so I bet it would own on the POD.

Ramsey 03-01-2005 04:42 AM

Anyways man, I'll talk to you later, I need to sleep. G'night.

The digital out is just the term they used for POD to comp USB recording. Looking some more I may end up getting the XT Live pedalboard instead. 100 bucks more but seems to have even more effects, amps, and features. Besides recording, how do the effects and models sound through your amp?

Edit: NM, later man.

Meh, well, I have a terrible amp, that I bought for 200 bucks from a pawnshop, so it sounds good, but my amp really bogs down the sound. If I had a better amp, I probably would appreciate it more, but my amp sounds so bad that I only play through the computer speakers now! :p

Gnight!

Pfft, lucky for some.
My school refuses to have a snow day, no matter how much snow we get.
Not really factor of fun...more so of staying awake at work...
Well then, you sir need to get your priorities straight. Fun>work.

BoboTheRagingHobo 03-01-2005 06:25 AM

Yes, I agree 100% fun > work

But when you work for your dad and all he does all day at work is rag on you about how you don't get enough sleep gets tiresome after awhile.
