I think the first three albums are the best but I disagree with you on the rest.

Darkness 09-05-2005 08:15 PM

Does noone else share my love for AJFA? :(

Metallica never died, they still kick ass live.

The first Four albums are the best, including AJFA, wich is considered by many their best album (imo is RTL).

Until today the only album of metallica that is pretty bad is ST. Anger, and even that, they show they can still some heavy and fast stuff.
Alright, I've been thinking a bit lately, about the album covers (Specifically for Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets), I'm probably the only one, but I think the colours of the album covers (Blue and Red, respectively), perfectly describe the albums!

Example, when I think of any song from Ride The Lightning, I think of some Dark Blue atmospheric background, and with Master of Puppets it's a Red/Firey background.

I dunno, I'm just thinking out loud.. :p
that's incredible, I think the same thing too, and about 150 pages back some
one had said that Jump In The Fire reminds them of a circus tent and I get the same thing

Cool, this also means we can start recording FWTBT right?
Yes suh.

I have to work tomorrow but I have a good 2 hours of drum time to work on it. I'll see what I can get done.

Avellin 09-05-2005 08:44 PM

^ If ya want any help, I can, possibly, throw in some lead work if ya need it.

Britton 09-05-2005 09:06 PM

^ I think we have a lead player. but go ahead and record it anyway

we don't rule anyone out in here

Huber 09-05-2005 09:12 PM

Yeah, at any time anyone can record something and just post it and then we can make something of it from there and then like make a Soundclick of songs.

Chu 09-05-2005 09:21 PM

If we get enough people involved, we'll have a few different version of the one song (There are some people ( ) who want to try it down tuned + additional solos, while some other people might just wanna keep it to the original?)

mr black 09-06-2005 07:04 AM

Then everyone record it in standard... Also it all comes down to who's running the best amp and guitar as well...
It would be nice to get some more info on the crash. Mainly on why it was caused. I know the driver said black ice, but none was found. Jaymz said he smelled alcohol on the driver's breath. The police said that the skid marks showed up like an asleep-behind-the-wheel accident. Metallica would be much different if Cliff hadn't died. They wouldn't have needed therapy, at least yet, and wouldn't have released St. Anger. I like St. Anger, but for Metallica, it really is no where near as satisfying as pre-Load stuff(though they had their good ones on the Load albums). Cliff was ****ing awesome, and next year it'll be 20 years....**** shame. September 27 is a special day for me, I've always done something in his memory, and next year I'll probably record Anesthesia, Ktulu, and Orion for it. I'd do it this year if I had a bass, much less a distortion pedal for Anesthesia. But the forums will be the first to see the recordings.
they wouldn't released self titled, load, reload and all the other
i think it would stay more heavy/better stufff, but they would be less known

Yeah, man. I love it! I actually prefer it to Kill 'Em All and RTL. :)

It's great but it drags on and on.

123

I usually can't listen to it all coz i get bored, like the pre-chorus and chorus goes on for ages.

justine_hammett 09-06-2005 11:59 AM

i cant really get into AJFA. I feel like I sorta know all the albums inside out you know? But AJFA is just different. Its not crap I think its amazing its just...really dark or something. cant really explain it

Jev 09-06-2005 12:01 PM

Yeah it's pretty much like that for me. When i do listen though I'm like "wow why don't I listen more often?" but i never do.

justine_hammett 09-06-2005 12:04 PM
Yeah it's pretty much like that for me. When i do listen though I'm like "wow why don't I listen more often?" but i never do.
Jev 09-06-2005 12:17 PM

Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and The Comets, It's different and I bet the solo will impress if you can play that.

Kyle 09-06-2005 01:20 PM
btw i have an audition for guitar player in my school band
school band? what a novel idea.

Britton 09-06-2005 04:29 PM

RTL is the best I do admit that ajfa is probably better than KEA, but I still like
KEA more

even though ajfa is more techniqual

Hell yeah I do. That was my first 'tallica album I've ever owned. In fact it was the first of any cd that I had ever owned. If I remember correctly it was a burned cd. Ha, take that lars. One burned cd caused me to be a lifetime Metallica fan. And I paid for most of my current metallica collection, including an AJFA CD.

I also got that cd when I was 10 btw. I remember that I used to put AJFA on all the time after I got it. I was just amazed at sheer speed and chops these guys had. I would fall asleep every night listening to them and wake up every morning listening to them. IT DROVE MY MOTHER CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

timmySmi 09-06-2005 06:11 PM

Cliff burton absolutely amazing talent Metallica would have got where they were today with him Technically alot better than Jason, Cliff was just a rare talent. But I still think Newsted was a greater loss (waits to get flamed).
whenever I watch Jason live his charisma and passion for what he does is truelly and inspiration. His backing vocals were brilliant i.e Whiplash live Video, Woodstock 99 Seek & Destroy. I think what kept him in Metallica and put up with all of James & Lars abuse was just his upmost love for the band he was in. I believe he loved the band even more than Kirk Lars and James thats why at every perfomance he just always gace 110%. people overshadow him because of:
Cliff, Him playing with a pick.
Just forget that Cliff did'nt existed and your thoughts on Jay would be alot different. I love Jason Newsted he has being such an inspiration to me not just on my bass playing but my overall outlook as a musician and I hope one day Jason can rejoin them ( i Know very unlikely) but hey we can dream. :)

lightningmetal666 09-06-2005 06:20 PM

I was watching the S&M dvd the other day and I thought that Jason was ****ing hilarious. Especially when he smashed that violin.

I think that cliff had a reputation (just from what I've seen and heard) for doing crazy things like that and Jason felt he had to do the same because he had some big shoes to fill and all the guys were just giving him crap. He is a great player and he does have talent but cliff will beat Jason at bass anyday. Keep in mind that Cliff had trained in classical bass for most of his High School days. Jason more or less picked it up from a friend that lived down the street from him. Obviously Cliff would beat his playing. They both do have a great playing style though.

OldBobScoo 09-06-2005 06:30 PM

when's Metallica's new album coming out?

Darkness 09-06-2005 06:36 PM
Yeah, man. I love it! I actually prefer it to Kill 'Em All and RTL. :)
Yeah me to, but I actually prefer it to... I can't say...

And yeah the title track does drag on a bit, but Blackened, One, Harvestor of Sorrow, To Live is To Die, and Dyers Eve are some of the bands best songs.

willis2441 09-06-2005 07:46 PM

**** alot has changed since being gone, hows everyone?

Britton 09-06-2005 08:02 PM

it's a thread it constantley changes.

both bassist have talent, that's why I love rob and can't wiat for a new album (theres no news on that) but rob is sorta like a mix of both previus bassist

Darkness 09-06-2005 08:07 PM

Jason never really did anything to amazing for me... Maybe because I never saw the band live.

willis2441 09-06-2005 08:08 PM

me being a huge metallica fan,i think they lost something when they went clean.honesty, but you never know with those guys, they always pull out of a slump
