punk = teh suxorz, except for the clash, who get the status of honourary rockers.
not really. Punk really is terrible, I cannot help but despise any genre in which a total absence of musicality is not only accepted but encouraged as "rock n roll behaviour". Its like they enjoy being bad at what they do, i can't stand it or their attitude. |

Blue Haze whores herself too (thankfully). But most of them are smart and never reveal gender |
Blue Haze's posting skills are shockingly poor.
And I might be at Download next year if I can afford it. |
She posts in the pit, go figure.
Download next year is already getting me excited, with some bands that promise to be there Machinehead/Tool headliners was rumoured |

Not all Indie is bad. Check out Mogwai, they do some pretty incredible stuff with gutiars (not in terms of skill, but they make amazing noises) |

Ill steal my friends .hack mangas at some point then mike, he's shown me the game, and the story sounds interesting
I haven't read the mangas, but I love the anime, and I don't know how the two are related. If you can get your hands on the anime, I would highly reccomend that. Also, as a general note, I love being a nerd, and am proud to admit my nerd heritage. My dad is in fact a professional nerd, or rather, NERD: Network Emergency Response Department. And Bill Gates owns the world. So there. :p Anyways, I just spent the day with three friends, and we had band practice from about 11-2 and LAN Party from about 2:30-7. I'm kind of exhausted for some reason or another, and I'm rather unmotivated at the moment. Hell, I don't even feel like playing The Uber Penguins in his chess thread right now, and I usually jump at that opportunity. Oh, well. I'll get to bed sometime. |
I have my new timetable...one of my new Music Tech teachers is called Mr. R Stinchcombe and I have double free first thing in the morning on the first day back

Of course they know how to play their instruments. You're just touting the, 'lol i live in da 80s hair metal' phase in which you assume for someone to be able to play an instrument and for music to be good, someones got to cut off the blood supply to their legs with tight latex trousers. Have a giant blonde perm. Spend tens of thousands of pounds showing off on a frankly fucking retarded stageshow*. *Who the **** goes to a gig to see some pretentious fag who is obviously still living in 1985 hobble down a flight of lit stairs with fucking fireworks and dumbass light shows. A real band can put on a show on a stage that barely fits them. I have no respect for anyone who needs a massive set up, or a massive stage to run around, or a fucking fake rocketship to emerge from. Why didn't you just buy tickets to a play instead. I can't stand grindcore, but seen as it's modern music. You must hate it and thus you must think they can't play their instruments. Which is a pity seen as their drummer holds the world record for fastest double bass. Pretty good considering he can't play an instrument huh? Sorry, but the fact that the lead guitarist isn't trying to push his notes into the range of upper human hearing doesn't mean he isn't playing. Obviously though, every band should just put a stomping lead guitar line with a 3 minute solo into their song, then all bands can sound the same. Just grow up, not everyone likes classic rock so give it a rest. http://photobucket.com/albums/a381/bandagethesehearts/ And that, is how you put on a show my child. With music and energy, not cheesy gimmicks and 40 year old musicians. I'm back. |

Even if they have 10 foot monsters, robotic devils, pyrotechincs and a walkway for the singer to run about on. pffff |

You're the one without half a leg to try to hobble around on. "There's more to being a good musician than being good at music"- pfft. sure. Stop making excuses for the fact you know 90% of music is your technical superior and stop telling people that they're wrong to appreciate musical skill instad of your "p00nage stayge showz". |
Oh dear K, sorry but I'm gonna give you more aggro :)
So you don't think there is any point in having a good stage show when you go to see a band? Well if so, why not just sit at home and listen to the CD or if you feel adventurous maybe even a live one? Sure, you go to a gig to see the band play and for the atmosphere etc but how does having a good show make the experience worse? If anything it may further improve someones evening- live CD's give the music but do they give the show put on for the audience by the band? No. If a band has to rely on a stage show to draw in people then maybe they aren't necessarily the best band around to do it alone on the music, but if you're a good band who wants to give that little extra with pyrotechnics or whatever- thats just a personal choice, some do, some don't. Um also- what the hell is your problem with rockers in their forties? Musicians in their 40s can give just as much enrgy as younger bands and just cos they're older does not mean they cannot play- sometimes this may help as they have experience and have grown as musicians... Dont see The Rolling Stones getting too many bad reviews at the mo...they be well past the 40s....and dont bother saying second wind What about (as Gur said) Iron Maiden, you can hardly say they cant crack it still? |
