Meatplow 10-11-2010 09:22 PM

what is the best example of the motorik beat i'm pretty late to the boat with Krautrock

Drugstep 10-11-2010 09:24 PM

Neu! is pretty much the only band that did the whole motorik beat thing and they're easily one of the least interesting bands in the genre

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldJ4DZkwHIs

this is like the definitive Motorik song

Drugstep 10-11-2010 09:25 PM

This is Neu's best song you'd probably like this a lot more

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23HfAHSKWlk

some people claim this song invented post-punk before punk had been invented

Meatplow 10-11-2010 09:25 PM

so its just boom boom ch boom boom boom ch boom boom boom ch over and over

Drugstep 10-11-2010 09:26 PM

yeah the idea is bass bass snare bass over and over in the background while you improvise over it for like ten minutes

Kraftwerk experimented with it some but other than that it's not any type of krautrock staple

Meatplow 10-11-2010 09:28 PM

Drugstep 10-11-2010 09:38 PM

they're also credited with inventing the remix when they ran out of money for studio time halfway through their second album and just made half of it other songs they did playing twice as fast

nice avatar

Drugstep 10-12-2010 09:16 PM

its all ive been listening to lately i can feel it in my bones, i don't know how you can write off that album it's artistry of the most admirable order, a truely heartfelt comment on a shallow and depraved 1990s culture

i creeped your face book the other day why you list Naked Lunch on your books lol? You read Illuminatus yet?

Meatplow 10-12-2010 09:21 PM

well I just added everything i've read up there. I haven't, will read it after I finish this book on philosophy in film

Rock is deader than dead, the shock is all in your head!

Drugstep 10-12-2010 09:26 PM

profoundly nihilistic cocaine influenced music

you ever listened to uh Holy Wood? its the beginning of the story about the drug addict alien with a vagina that turns into a worm and takes over the world, i wonder if its any good

Meatplow 10-12-2010 09:29 PM

I Don't Like The Drugs, But The Drugs Like Me

Drugstep 10-12-2010 09:29 PM

oh man dont get me started on the deep philosophical connotations of that song

Meatplow 10-12-2010 09:30 PM

I insist, please.

Drugstep 10-12-2010 09:32 PM

well in the chorus he says

It pays to be stupid, it's hard to be nothing at all

and like , its like the ultimate comment on the burden of the human race

Drugstep 10-12-2010 09:37 PM

you know because if you've ever been nothing at all and experienced the nothingness of it even stupidity seems profound by comparison

Meatplow 10-12-2010 09:47 PM

bleak

listening to William S. Burroughs, "Captain Clark Welcomes You Aboard"

Meatplow 10-12-2010 09:51 PM
The final IR release was called Nothing Here but the Recordings, a best-of album taken from the archives of William S. Burroughs, who had allowed P-Orridge and Sleazy access to his reel-to-reel tape archive
bet they would have jizzed themselves

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wreckers-Civilization-Transmissions-Throbbing-Gristle/dp/1901033600

gonna buy this

Drugstep 10-12-2010 09:57 PM

always thought itd be cool to buy that

i always wonder if Genesis P-Orridge, Andy Warhol, Lou Reed and William S Burroughs ever just fucked the shit out of each other, since apparently they were all best friends and all flaming homosexuals

Meatplow 10-12-2010 09:59 PM

it's almost a certainty I think

probably something more ritualistic though

Drugstep 10-12-2010 10:01 PM

there's probably archival footage of it that warhol filmed in black and white from a weird camera angle

Meatplow 10-12-2010 10:30 PM

still need to download that 8 hour long or so movie of the Empire State Building

Aaron 10-12-2010 10:31 PM

Listen to my new tracks, you bitches. You don't even have to download them. :)

Meatplow 10-12-2010 10:32 PM

Boyd Rice article about the secret club at Disneyland, probably one of the best things he has written

Aaron 10-13-2010 06:28 AM

He's certainly got a grasp of language.
I hope he does Hatesville II eventually.

Meatplow 10-13-2010 06:38 AM
