I got 47% :upset: Well I don't much about DT after all.

GenuineImitation 10-17-2005 01:21 PM
No wonder Jones Beach got such a good setlist...DT must have paid tribute to their home state.

That's me. :D

I love the part in the As I Am solo where he starts playing the triplets (I think they're triplets) really fast, and then slowly bends up the string. Gives me the chills. And depresses me, knowing I'll never be able to do that. :upset:
You went to their Jones Beach show?

Shattered_Future 10-17-2005 01:23 PM
You went to their Jones Beach show?
Yea...we were somewhere up in the lower mezzaine level.

Best setlist I've ever seen from a band.

I got a 38% on that quiz. :upset:

Triangle 10-17-2005 01:27 PM

You scored 58% Dream Theater Nerd! Wicked.

I was going to go to that, but I had to go to my cousins Birthday party.

I dont have a car, so I didnt really have the option to drive myself there. I better catch them on their next tour.

Lord Abortion 10-17-2005 01:38 PM

Yeah, if DT were in a place in Britain that it would be possible for me to get to, I would sell my little brother for a train ticket.

Ouch...

You missed a hell of a show. Dream Theater was superb, Symphony X put on the greatest show I've ever seen from a band (and they only got 30 minutes!), Megadeth was awesome as well, and the rest of the bands I actually didn't hate that much.

We missed Nevermore though.

Awesome, I really want to see SX live. Are Nevermore good?
Awesome, I really want to see SX live. Are Nevermore good?
Once again, haven't seen them live.

Recorded, though, they are one of the most original and awesome bands I've ever heard...it's like a blend of death metal riffing and drums and powermetal vocals, with a little prog mixed in now and then.

There's some mp3s of theirs on http://www.centurymedia.com. The american section. Once you get into it, click on audio.

does anyone know who early i should turn up to a standing gig? i'm going to the DT gig next wednesday, but i've only ever been to seating gigs before, and i just wanted to know how early i should get to the venue to get anywhere near the front.

nowitzki 10-17-2005 04:19 PM

Well that gig may be different than usual as there's no support band. Usually unless you want to get right to the front (against the barriers) you're fine getting there for when the doors open. But I'm guessing for DT everyone will get there on time, so about 30 mins early to que up maybe? I take it you're on about the Wolverhampton gig right?

Shattered_Future 10-17-2005 04:49 PM

I'd say as early as possible...

For Symphony X, we went up straight as soon as the act before them was done, and we still got pushed back to like the second row.

I'd say an hour, maybe, and you should be safe.

nowitzki 10-17-2005 04:52 PM

Actually thinking about it, I'm probably not the right person to answer that at all, being 6-4 I always get a great view of the stage wherever I stand.

AClotM1 10-17-2005 04:53 PM

My buds give me shit for liking TOT. I think it's a very good album, I have all their albums.

At least you saw the other bands:upset: .

AclotM1, I like ToT also, so dont feel bad. You are not alone. I think its a really good cd. I still like Awake more though.

I love ToT

Static 10-17-2005 08:16 PM

6DoIT>SFaM>ToT>I&W>FII>ACoS>Awake>WDaDU

IMHO, of course.

Darkness 10-17-2005 08:18 PM

Awake blows them all away... followed by ToT, then 6DoIT, ACoS > I&W.. haven't heard the rest yet..

nowitzki 10-18-2005 04:02 AM

Hmm, go on then, lets do this again:

I&W>SFAM>TOT>Awake>8VM>6DOIT>ACOS>FII>WDADU

This list does change slightly every time I work it out. And even though they are ranked like that I do enjoy aspects of every album (even FII has started to grow on me now), except for WDADU, which despite having some great songs, I don't really enjoy listening to becuase of Charlie's vocals, and poor recording quality. The live versions of the songs from the album are mostly excellent though.

Lord Abortion 10-18-2005 04:31 AM

I&W>ToT>SFAM>8VM>6DOT>Awake>ACOS>FII.WDADU

the WDADU songs on Live at the marquee are so much better than the studio ones...

MAthiAS 10-18-2005 05:52 AM

I&W > Awake > 6DoiT > ACoS > WDADU > ToT > SFAM > FII > 8VM

Heh, my families from Derbyshire. Just letting you know.

My list (for what I have) goes:

SFAM>I&W>ToT>Awake>8V>ACOS

Shattered_Future 10-18-2005 02:41 PM

Mine is...

ToT>6DOIT>SFAM>Awake>ACoS>8VM>I&W

Don't have FII, and haven't listened to WDADU yet.

If you judge by his posts, he really hates all of Dream Theater with a passion. I don't even know why he comes in this thread at all.
