After hearing all of the hype about a band called Animosity, I decided to look into them. After getting this release, I soon realized I wasted my time. Animosity is just plain and simple deathcore.

Animosity is a very simple band that tries to be heavier than they truly are. In both vocals and instruments you'll find this to be true. I'll give you a more in-depth description.

The guitar work is decent at best. There is a lot of attempts at trying to be technical in this album. Mainly, the guitar riffing includes some triplet style picking, mediocre sweep-pick guitar solos, and some horrible breakdowns. Ah, yes, the sign of a deathcore band is shown! The infamous 'Breakdown' is prevalent in this release. They seem to pop out in the middle, or near the end of a song. The guitar does have a lot of energy and emphasis. The bass work is not emphasized at all, and I really can't talk about it much.

The drum style is decent. The drummer does stay away from blast beats, which is all ways a plus. He does use a lot of variations, and has some decent fills. He seems like he isn't good at the double bass pedals though, and I think that is a skill needed to play any form of death metal.

The vocal styles range, depending on song. There are usually mid-range screams, in a more raspy style. There are also death grunts, and some low gurgles. In a couple of tracks, there is some clean vocals usually sang in the background.

Animosity is nothing special. They are very trendy, and it seems to me like I've heard this music many times before. I would recommend this band to people who find the deathcore genre exciting.

Yeah, Whitechapel probably is the best in the genre, but that's not saying much. And Despised Icon is terrible, sorry baby.

Whitechapel, GOV and Carnfiex.

I think theres a small chance you may be able to tolerate some of those retired.
