lol, you know someone called london?

What the hell is up with parents?!
Yeah, he's this jacked rasta. He's really good at everything, especially drugs from what I've heard lately.

Collis 09-04-2008 04:43 AM

Woh woh I just got into Protest The Hero, probably prefer Fortress over Kezia ... but w/e they're both great.

Any other bands that are in the same mould as PTH?

thedissentience 09-04-2008 08:29 AM

Check out SiKth, Collis.

I think everyone knows I'm the their biggest fanboy so it should come as no surprise when I say

ARCHI-****ING-TECTS

Tyler 09-04-2008 09:18 AM

There aren't too many bands that sound like PTH other than the ones coming out now totally ripping them off. That being said, yeah, Architects are a good start. SikTh, too. Then you basically have to listen to a mix of Judas Priest, Between the Buried and Me, Aeon, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Thrice to get "their sound".

Jev 09-04-2008 10:30 AM

SikTh don't sound anything like them from what i've heard :-/

Tyler 09-04-2008 10:33 AM

It's more in the way they use their instruments than how they sound.

Jev 09-04-2008 10:33 AM

Yeah I can see it that way.

rid 09-04-2008 10:33 AM

Pff nothing alike.

Tyler 09-04-2008 10:39 AM

Nah I hear a lot of similarities, especially in the guitar work.

rid 09-04-2008 10:43 AM

Perhaps a bit, but different sound = bad recommendation.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:18 AM

Like I said, there aren't any bands with the same sound so it's better than no recommendation at all.
Nah I hear a lot of similarities, especially in the guitar work.
i do too, sikth is quite a bit more dissonant and less melodic than pth though. I like em both, but sikth better because i like both of sikth's albums and i really only like kezia, and a little bit of fortress.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:22 AM

I Am Abomination sound like them without the screaming.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:27 AM

I know, see:

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:27 AM

Yeah I thought that might be who you were talking about, ah well, I still like them.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:30 AM

I'm just listening to them now. They bite a lot of Protest stuff but they're much bigger wieners from what I can tell. Vocals suck so far.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:30 AM

It's quite good for a debut EP.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:36 AM

They dont sound anything like PTH.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:42 AM

I thought the guitar leads were pretty PtHesque. Also the high pitched melodic vocals.

Collis 09-04-2008 12:18 PM

Bugger me the vocals in Sikth are a bit off. Suppose it is a case of trying to look past it.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 12:24 PM

Yeah Sikth are pretty wierd, but good.

Pete 09-04-2008 12:26 PM

http://www.myspace.com/todayicaughttheplague also

willfellmarsy 09-04-2008 08:32 PM

^^verry verry nice though quite alike...i only listened to one track but i m gunnaget.../repd

Porklips 09-04-2008 10:02 PM

Sikth is kickass, both CDs are extremely awesome. Even those spoken tracks.

Tyler 09-08-2008 01:37 PM

Devin Townsend's remix of Sequoia Throne might just be the worst thing I've heard all year.

QFT. That remix EP sucks ***. I bet it was more a record label decision.

Jev 09-13-2008 11:12 AM

I'm trying to learn Sequoia Throne. That tapping intro is a bitch.

EaterOfUterus 09-13-2008 11:21 AM

I almost had a chance to see PtH when they played with AtR in San Antonio. I bought my tickets and everything but did not have the money for the 6 hour drive.

Dimmu Burger 09-13-2008 11:41 AM

Shoulda rode your bike!
