Obscured By Clouds is a very good album. Its a different sound than what most people think of Pink Floyd, and I love it.

"Stay" is one of my favorite Floyd songs.

OBC was one of the first albums I bought without hearing it somewhere else first. I must say I was happy with my purchase. You guys should enjoy it.

Amused to Death is a brilliant album, too.

i've always preffered floyd after sid barret "left", i love the division bell. However i think animals is waaaaay too lyrically based, and the music suffers somewhat. Its like the music was written around the lyrics, which i know gilmour was opposed to. I also think the wall is overrated, some epic songs on there, mother is a particular favourite (THAT solo!). My favourite 3 albums are:

DOTM
WYWH
Division bell

animals and the final cut have their moments, but some of it is a bit cringe worthy, a bit cliche and a bit too biased politically. still very good, mostly well written albums.

It's definatly not their most impressive of works, but I think it's totally redeemed by Dogs (that riff!) and Pigs (three different ones). I also find Pigs on the wing 1 & 2 to be a cool little intro/outro thing.

pigs on a wing was originally one song. i think a studio guitarist (snowy someone) did a solo for it as part of his audition, but it was never released, except for on the japenese eight track version.

animals gets old pretty fast, so i have to leave time between listens

But seriously, if you -could- call any Floyd album boring, you'd have to settle on [I]Atom Heart Mother[/I] or [I]A Momentary Lapse Of Reason[/I], both of which have their slow moments. However, even they are nowhere near boring in my humble, unbiased, non-partisan opinion.

Wish You Were Here and Animals are both masterpieces. In fact, every album Floyd did from Meddle to The Wall is a masterpiece if you ask me. They had a great streak.

i dispute the wall as a masterpiece. its great and i love it, but in no way is it as unassailable as either WYWH or DSOTM

meddle has only three 'classic' tracks, whereas every thing on wywh or dstom is 'classic'. therea a reason the poor tracks from meddle haven't been played by any of the bands members in the last ten years.
