Twin Human Highway Flares 08-01-2007 10:12 PM

Up them? I haven't heard of either.

Anarcho Poser 08-02-2007 08:36 AM
I found two(2) unreleased AM! tracks the other day. Clap, Clap and Take Aim! I had never seen them prior to the comp they are on...
They were both on the stolen SFAFC demo under different names.
I think if I were in a band, this would be the most amazing feeling in the world.

No, I know it would be.

That entire concert seems for me to be the one show that I would have liked to go to the most ever! It looks so awesome I can't believe it!!!

I haven't heard the new album yet because I have been away all summer so far, but I ordered it of No Idea Records today.

I did se Against Me! for the first time ever though at a festival 07/08. It was their last show before the cd came out.
Even though I had only heard White People For Peace before the show I am still pretty sure that I will conclude two things so far:
1. The new songs will never mean the same to me as many of the old ones have.
2. When playing old stuff Against Me! still Kick Seriously ass live!

Unfortunately 1/3 of the set was new stuff that nobody in the crowd knew. Other than that it ruled.

Cliche 08-02-2007 01:45 PM

Yeah, Clap, Clap and Take Aim! are both on their stolen demo, as well as on a compilation called Remember Your Roots. Same versions and everything.

True dat.

Henrik 08-03-2007 08:55 AM

Could anyone upload the stolen demo? I've never heard it.

That website pretty much has everything you'll ever need.

Anarcho Poser 08-03-2007 01:20 PM

So I was just reading a pretty old interview with warren, from a little while before SFAFC came out.
Bobby: If you could pick one person or band, dead or alive to tour with, who would you pick to tour with and why?

Warren: I… Man, I think I’d really love to tour with The Replacements. Apparently they were a very inconsistent and volatile live band, but I don’t know, it seems just like there was a real energy to them at a certain time. It would be really awesome to be able to tap into that and witness it. Looking back at any band, you can kind of see, in retrospect, when was really their prime, you know? Like when was the time for like Guns N’ Roses, right at a certain point like ’88 or whatever; right before they had to start playing arenas, they were still playing clubs and there was this energy there. That would be an amazing time to see them play. Or getting to see the Replacements in the early ‘80s or getting to see The Clash when they were touring around the UK. Like there are these prime times where if you catch the band at that certain point, there’s that electricity there. It’s a tough call to make between them, those are a few.
I just thought it was kind of funny and ironic, him talking about that, right at the end of that phase for them.

Henrik 08-03-2007 01:20 PM

Thanks a lot, I forgot about that site. damn it's awesome, but who keeps upping things for it?

haha that's funny actually. Catching Against Me! live in 2002 or so must have been amazing.
Perfect set list I would love to see:

Pints Of Guinness Make You Strong
Impact
Rice and Bread
Y'all Dont Wanna Step To Dis
TSR
Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious...
The Disco Before The Breakdown
Reinventing Axl Rose
You Look Like I Need A Drink
Walking Is Still Honest
Untitled
We Laugh At Danger And Break All The Rules
Untitled 2
Baby, I'm An Anarchist! (as an encore)

The venue should be a bit small with around 100-200 people I think.

Anarcho Poser 08-03-2007 01:44 PM

The first time I saw them, it was just about perfect. I don't remember the exact setlist, but I know they played

T.S.R. (I remember it made a strange opener, I thought)
Those Anarcho Punx
Reinventing Axl Rose
Baby, I'm an anarchist
we Laugh at Danger
Pints of Guinness
Walking is Still Honest
Sink, florida, Sink
and Impact and Searching for a Former clarity as an encore.

Best. Show. Ever.

asdf 08-03-2007 01:48 PM

I wish I actually knew them when I saw then in '04, because it was a great show.

Henrik 08-03-2007 06:17 PM

I just found out that they played in 2001 at an awesome festival in an awesome squat near where I live.

I didn't knew them then and now Against Me! aren't as good and the squat has gotten evicted and teared down :(

Scuba_Steve 08-03-2007 10:02 PM

K guys I dunno if this is old new or what,

but I was listening to some Misfits tunes, and I think Danzig has a very similar voice to Tom Gabel.

not all the time, but sometimes they end up sounding very similar.

Twin Human Highway Flares 08-03-2007 10:45 PM

Really? I don't really see it. They both have strong voices, and Tom's later, cleaner voice is pretty powerful even without screaming, and I think Danzig does have that too. Danzig is definitely a much better singer though.

Scuba_Steve 08-03-2007 11:40 PM

It's not a constant thing, there were just a few times listening through the static age album where I thought "man, that sounds like tom".

I agree that Danzig is a fantastic singer though.

Video for Thrash Unreal has just been released.

http://www.punknews.org/article/25009

I like the video, but lucky for us that the video is shitty enough that it won't get a lot of play on Much Music/MTV and such. It would have been better with more shots of the band, and if Tom was wearing a shirt.

Henrik 08-10-2007 08:26 AM

Against Me! are comming to my town next October. They are set to play at a pretty cool venue. It should be allright.

GreyHam 08-10-2007 08:32 AM

only just discovered against me and it makes me sad that they escaped my beady eyes and ears for so long...

awesome band, and certainly one that i cant pass judgement on for 'selling out'

Cliche 08-10-2007 08:38 AM

I understand the whole hating a bigger label thing, but check out all the awesome bands that we're on Sire.

"were" is the operative word there.

All those bands have long since left.

Yeah, that's the sad part.

SkaRobotArmy 08-10-2007 02:12 PM

videos pretty cool, love toms guitar. but it just proves they haven't sold out, they're playing in a basement... way so punx

thats pretty sweet though, i didn't know that. if it was good enough for the ramones and the adicts, its good enough for me.

the english beat are playing a free show in hamilton tomorrow...

Cliche 08-14-2007 12:14 PM

Looks like Tom has gotten himself a little temper... enough to get him arrested.

Gabel sounds like a monumental prick now.

I thought non-violence was supposed to be an anarchist belief, or is Gabel no longer an anarchist.
