I'm on the market for a new ride cymbal. I own a Zildjian A Custom 20" Ping Ride at the moment but I find that it is to washy for my tastes. I really like the Paiste 2002 20" Ride but the bell is underwhelming - its only downside. Any suggestions for a ride that sounds like the 2002 but has a more powerful bell?
Thanks |
22" HH medium ride? too washY?
|
try it out.
try it out.
you can get it only by a special order, |

Hmm, well that won't work out. Any other suggestions - primarily Paiste? |

Its time for me to upgrade my crashes. Heres what I'm working with:
20" AAX Stage Ride (Brilliant finish) 14" AAX Stage Hats (Brilliant finish) 16" and 18" XS20 medium thin crashes (These are what I'm upgrading) I am pretty sure I want to get some AA Medium crashes in brilliant finish. I need help picking the right combination. Should I go with 17" and 19"? 16" and 18"? 17" and 18"? 18" and 19"? Its a hard decision. I don't want anything bigger than 19" or smaller than 16". Also, I am thinking about getting a china. What chinas would you guys suggest for my setup? I was thinking maybe an 18", 19", or 20" china, definitely AA or AAX. My GCs around here are really ****ty. They don't carry AAs in stock at all cause they say they don't sell good. So I can't hear these AAs in person. GC is about the only place to try-and-buy cymbals around here also. :( |
19" AAXtreme china. The sabian site doesn't do it much justice, though. So, listen to it in person if you can before you make any judgements.
|
id 17" aaxtreme china..contrasts extremely well should u decide to go with a wuhan also
for ur crashes, aaxplosions and stage crashes are great to try out. id go 17" aaxplosion and 19" stage crash (i think they go that size). yeah, GC is an ashwhore when not stocking something. they wont order something for u to try out because 'then u might not buy it' as if no1 else would with no sabian AAs, why cant u try out any zildjian As? |
yeah stupid GC doesnt carry AA they just order them. bastards. anyway as for crashes maybe go 17 medium thin and 18 medium. Both the medium and medium thin AA crashes are good crashes. As for chinas, go with a traditional finish AA chinese in 18 or 20.
What does everyone think of the HHX Stage Crashes? Going to the shop soon to check them out but just wondering what peoples experiences with them are.
Anyone? |
Anyone?
HHXtreme sound awesome it's like a china-crash, it's explosive and has a quick decay, i really dig them |

I want to go with 2 AA mediums though. What would be two good sizes for the mediums? Also, how much harder would the mediums be to move than the medium-thins? I won't have to use a lot of forearm to move these right? |
no. mediums arent hard to move. when you get into the larger ones like medium heavies n stuff then its a bit harder to get a good crash out of them. as for crash sizes i went with 16, 18 when i got my crashes. I shoudlve went 17, 19. I still like the 16, 18 though.

Yeah I think 17 and 19 would be good sizes. My 16" is kinda splashy but maybe thats only an XS20 thing. Thanks for the help! :thumb: |
well i would really want to try out a crash in person before buying it, so its tough to say. Id look at the crashes they have in stock at GC as well just to see what you think of them

Need suggestions for a good dark crash 18 inches and up, right now i have a 16" AAXplosion, 17" A Custom and 18" Pro sonix that has a small crack in it from a retarded friend, so im looking for something dark.

look at the sabian HHX crashes. |
I'd say 18" K Custom Dark Crash, 18" K Custom Fast Crash, 20" HHX Stage Crash and 18" HHX Evolution Crash are some to keep in mind

I have the Stage crashes 18" and 16" They go great together but I wish I checked into the AAXplosions more. I might buy the 17" and 19" so I have 4 crashes one day. The AA medium crashes are very nice too. They are about the right weight and sound fantastic. the reason they don't sell good is because they dont stock em :p for the china the 17" AAXtreme china is excellent. If you don't want to spend the money though look into Wuhan. |

I don't know anything about Wuhan so I really need help in that area. Also how do the AAXtreme chinas, the AAX chinas, and the AA chinas compare to each other? |

I want a cymbal pack including 14" hats, 16" crash and 18" ride for cheap...about £120 any ideas? thanks xxx :P
|
for £120 you could get piaste 101s or sabian solars they are both quite cheap althought the 101s are better.. you would also have enough to say get a 14" crash or 12" splash say.. or you could save up some more for some zildjian Zbts as they are pretty good to start with:thumb: :chug:
Well what would be a good Wuhan china? I don't know anything about Wuhan so I really need help in that area.
Also how do the AAXtreme chinas, the AAX chinas, and the AA chinas compare to each other?
As far as wuhan chinas go i beleive they are made the same way just different sizes. AS for the AAX chinas.....The AAXtreme chinese will be a bit more fast and not as "trashy" as the reg AAX chinese. the AAXtreme and AAX chinas are different sizes the aaxtreme is 15, 17, 19 and the aax china is 16, 18, 20. Also the AA chinese has slight trashyness to it but still is kinda bright as are the other chinas too. the AA chinese has a decent attack to it. I own the traditional AA chinese in 18inch and i love it. Something to look into. I want to get a 20inch AA to add onto it. I dont know anything about the AA fast chinese other than it will probably have a faster decay than the other chinas. |
Hey guys, just wondering what your opinions on Paiste 2oo2 Heavy Ride are...
|
Does it come in 24"?
