Tony Martin's stuff is prety good too.
Has anyone ever seen this site? There's some pretty interesting stuff on it. I never knew that they've never performed The Hellion live. How many of you remember Dave Holland? He was a pretty good drummer, for someone who didn't do double bass. Not that it matters now he's rotting in jail, the bastard.
Yeah, I do. Awful IMO. They always had a problem with drummers, John Hinch played on Rocka Rolla I think, then Alan Moore did Sad Wings then they had Les Binks and Simon Phillips (yes, that Simon Phillips) and finally Mr. "would you like to see my rabbits" Holland. I like to think he lasted so long with them cos he was quiet and didn't have an ego cos he realised he was f***ing lucky to be there. Or he was cheap. Or both. :naughty: |
i've never heard any ripper songs, but i think i'll tend to avoid...like i avoid Dio fronting sabbath.
Dio rocks man. Rocks. |
Listening to Unleashed in the East on Vynil and wondered if it was overdubbed much cause it sounds an amazing quality live recording. I expect someone like Brum will know this. Being the tr00 Priest fan he is.
Er, yes it was. So much so that some dubbed it "Unleashed In The Studio"! |
That's basically what it is though. An awesome album though.
|
Agreed.
|
I mean the live version of Tyrant? Are you kidding me? Awesome.
|
Turbo? Excellent? You must be a Septic Tank to like that heap of poo-centred lameness. And I am a huge Priest fan. Huge. That album vies with Point of Entry as the worst of all. And British Steel is way overrated IMO.
Hey thanks for flaming me. What's your favourite album then? My 5 favourites are Ram It Down Painkiller Hellbent For Leather Screaming For Vengeance Sad Wings Of Destiny |
Mine are:
Screaming For Vengeance Painkiller Hell Bent For Leather Stained Class Angel Of Retribution |
I only have three albums so I will just put them in :upset:
Sad wings of destiny British steel Angel of retribution |
You can't possbily go wrong with Painkiller. I mean, look at the title track. They made a song about a metallic superhero saving the world from Armageddon and they made it work.
|

Have you seen it live on the bonus DVD that came with AOR? |
I haven't watched the bonus DVD yet. I've been pretty busy all week.
Quick question to by answered by one of the R&M regulars, is the new album worth getting, i cant afford too much right right but if it's worth it i'll pick it up. thanks towards the reg's.
Well I definately think it is worth picking up |

One Shot at Glory is such an underrated song. The leads are some of Priest's best, and the rhythm guitar is great, but people bash it as being too "weak" for the album. I love the breakdown before the main solos. My 5 favourites are Ram It Down Painkiller Hellbent For Leather Screaming For Vengeance Sad Wings Of Destiny
Hey, sorry didn't mean to flame ya - any Priest fan is a pal of mine! My faves are (tricky to put them in order tho') Sad Wings Painkiller Killing Machine Defenders of the Faith Screaming for Vengeance  |
Ah yes, Sad Wings is a classic. No love for Ram It Down?
|
Five faves in order?
1. Stained Class 2. Screaming For Vengeance 3. Painkiller 4. Sad Wings Of Destiny 5. British Steel Ram It Down is an alright album. The title track is one of my fave Priest tracks ever, but it's a little too inconsistant for me. |

Heavy Metal and Ram It Down are brilliant, and who can deny Blood Red Skies and Hard As Iron? |
Hard As Iron is another classic. Blood Red Skies never appealed much to me and Heavy Metal is kinda average for Priest. I just think it was a stepping stone to the brilliant Painkiller.
|
I only have 5 Priest albums, I'll try to order them for how much I like them
1. Sin After Sin 2. Painkiller 3. Angel of Retribution 4. British Steel 5. Ram it Down |
1. Painkiller
2. Defenders of the Faith 3. Ram it Down 4. Screaming for Vengeance 5. Stained Class |
1. Painkiller
2. Unleashed in the East (If it counts) 3. Screaming for Vengence 4. Angel of Retribution It's all I have, but I'm getting Metalogy soon to warm up before the concert. |
Ah yes, Sad Wings is a classic. No love for Ram It Down?
I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I agree with the guy who sais it was a stepping stone to Painkiller. Perhaps there was a little too much Turbo still in them when they made it! :) PS Turbo Lover and Out in the Cold are quite reasonable on Turbo. The others aren't. Esp. Parental Guidance. Talk about US style sellout cack |
I think it was a real stepping stone, but it is still a really good album. :)
Speaking of which, I wonder why Tipton and Downing don't get more recognition. I mean, some of the stuff they do is amazing. |
i like there new song that came out,its called revolution or something like that
|
I wonder why Tipton and Downing don't get more recognition. I mean, some of the stuff they do is amazing.
Cue the dual lead from Ram It Down. |
Cue the intro to Metal Meltdown.
Cue any song not on British Steel thinking about it. |

Have you heard any of the earlier stuff? |
I think Revolution is one of the weaker songs off the album. Why isn't Judas Rising a single?
|
I think Revolution is one of the weaker songs off the album. Why isn't Judas Rising a single?
Yeah! Its ****ing great song! |
Judas Priest is one of the stronger songs on the album yes...
So, favourite intros to any song? For guitar: Leather Rebel For vocals/guitar: Ram It Down For drums/guitar: Painkiller What about you guys? |
Vocals only: All Guns Blazing
Guitar: The Hellion/Electric Eye (harmonising), Leather Rebel(riffage), Metal Meltdown(solo) Drums: Painkiller by far. Other: Night Crawler(I just love the way it leads in to the main riff) Here's another question: What are your favourite slow Priest leads? For me, Glenn Tipton's solo in Beyond the Realms of Death, and all the leads in Rock Hard Ride Free. |
Beyond The Realms of Death is great... and I like Angel, Blood Red Skies and United equally.
|

Possibly something to do with the record company? |
