If I decipered that correctly and my idiot to english translator is working correctly.

If you use only soulseek you have a very reduced risk of being caught by the RIAA for a few reasons:
1. The RIAA doesn't know about soulseek, yet
2. You are more than likely downloading punk, most of which is signed to independent labels not part of the RIAA.

But there are exceptions. If the RIAA were to find out about soulseek, they may just ask them to shut down (with legal threats) but not do anything to the users. The RIAA could also find Soulseek and not do anything because the people who run soulseek have rules stating you should not share copyrighted material, also soulseek was established in the beginning as a place where up and coming DJs, rappers, and techno artists could share their music (and it still is a big group for that)

honkybrewster 04-04-2005 11:49 PM

Is the RIAA even really a serious threat anymore? I thought everyone stopped caring.

Oi_bass_77 04-04-2005 11:54 PM
Is the RIAA even really a serious threat anymore? I thought everyone stopped caring.
They are still actively getting people, but it's not in the news as much anymore. There is a planned boycott of the RIAA and MPAA at the end of April, which constitues buying no music, no DVDs, going to no movies etc. Won't be too hard for me, as I do that anyway.

EDIT: Article on boycott: http://www.infoanarchy.org/story/2004/12/20/215510/26
http://www.boycott-riaa.com also has a lot of info on the ongoing suits etc.
Come to the Soulseek room:

Right click on the room list, choose 'Create Room' and type in "Soulseek PunX" (case sensitive)
*wink*

I only add people to my list if they are in that room or I download from.

If you aren't on my list, then you have to fight for 1 open slot.

If anyone has any Whole Wheat Bread send me a message... though I doubt anyone does.
