RockerGav 12-25-2003 09:52 AM

 You dare rip off the mighty Maiden!!!????

*got an official Wildest Dreams tour shirt at the gig*

And FFAF weren't too bad or too great either.

Thunder Fingers 12-25-2003 01:42 PM

exept that that their bassist was with mercyful fate before, and that he looks like aragon, i wouldnt say that arch enemy are that good.... but deamn, i want sharlee D'angelo's hair... thats heavy.... and hes nmot an bad bassist to... but when i saw them in norway earlier this year, they could have choosen another band, the norwegian maidenfans wasnt too happy with them....

HondoII 12-25-2003 02:38 PM

It's a **** load better than FFaF.

And congrats to the King. :thumb:

Firecracker 12-25-2003 04:26 PM

ffaf weren't bad.
but as i was always comparing them to maiden, they seemed a lot worse.

FrailandBedazzled1979 12-26-2003 01:52 AM

hey, who does the solo on "drifter"? i cant pick out either of their styles in it to tell.

*drools* you lucky bugger

I can't tell the difference between the soloists normally, can you give me some examples of each of them.

zeppelin_rules_62 12-26-2003 11:01 AM

The stuff off Somewhere in Time countains a lot of Adrian Smith's work

Davey....very legatto, smooth sounding and fast. He dosnet pick every note and his sound the most "dreamy" id say.

Adrian...more blues based, start off slower but pick up, the most "metal" of all the soloists, my personal fav.

Janick...very sloppy in his leads, scratchy, and at times dosnet fit the songs as well. hes more of a third leg lead player, but a good song/riff writer none the less.

Thus the basis of its appeal! Adrian being my favourite member of the band, i enjoy that album more than the others...always been my favourite.

Hobo 12-28-2003 01:23 AM

How have I missed this?? I love Iron Maiden, best band of all time.

Does anyone know where I can get a live version (preferably a video) of them performing Rime of the Ancient Mariner?

zeppelin_rules_62 12-28-2003 04:07 AM

Janick Gers is definitely not a third leg. Have you seen the man play. He is amazing!

Live After Death....

Janick is a pretty good player, why would maiden choose him if he was bad? and if he was bad they would have gotten rid of him when adrian joined back(like they did with Blaze).. Janick are a big part of maidens live show along with Steve And Bruce... (lets face it Adrian and Dave usually just stand there...)

He's a live guy. An amazing live guy at that.

Lets face it though, is there anyone that would have joined Maiden that WOULDN't be a third wheel to Smith and Murray?

ArnoldLayne 12-28-2003 01:59 PM

i got dance of death the day it came out and was actually shocked...i thought it was gonna suck since they would have lost their touch. they didn't but some things i that i noticed id dint like...the intro to face in the sand sounds very similar to ghots of the navigator at the beggining. all the things that sound kind of similar r just natural tho. it's a good CD :)

want to learn paschendale

Thunder Fingers 12-28-2003 02:05 PM

To Thoose who died at Paschendale..... Steve Harris will NEVER! (NEVER!) Loose his tuch.... What a guy.... :shakes head:

RockerGav 12-28-2003 02:27 PM

BTW it was Adrian who wrote Paschendale Ed.

And the guy who wants to learn it, I'll give you tab of the intro:
e|-0h10h12--p0h8h12--p0h7h12--p0h5h12--p0h7h12--------p0h10h12--p0h812--p0h7h12--p0h5h12--p0--h12
Only pick the first note, tap the 12 fret notes.

n0thingf4ace 12-28-2003 03:09 PM

FrailandBedazzled1979 12-28-2003 03:42 PM
Janick Gers is definitely not a third leg. Have you seen the man play. He is amazing!
as i said, hes a third leg "soloist" in terms of leads and all. i mentioned how his riff/song writing is top knotch, but in terms of playing leads he dosent match up to Davey and Adrian as well.

HondoII 12-28-2003 05:52 PM

I tabbed the Paschendale intro (which is on MX) with a friend. But later found out Adrian tapped as well. (Was watching some DOD dvd's)

RockerGav 12-29-2003 04:20 AM

I tabbed out the chords between the verse and the mobile phone riff myself.

Yes, he fades into the back of the music a lot. Most of the time he throws his guitar about rather than playing it. But his solo on HBTN when live is always amazing. He is MUCH faster than Adrian. Watch his fingers move on RiR, he really is amazing!

HondoII 12-29-2003 11:15 AM

zeppelin_rules_62 12-30-2003 01:52 PM
