I've only heard of Two Sevens Clash. It's supposed to be pretty good. What's your name on soulseek? Mine is DanielN.

Oh fo' sho'. Don't tell mx though, he might get mad and send me angry e-mails. Anyway, check it out: hxxp://s60.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2AG6B80J50X7C2VR5QOP33PEIE

It's not totally the original Specials though, I don't think. I think it's from '96 or something, with a lot of new members. Still sweet.

You are god.

edit: Just listened to it. Meh, it was okay. The original is one of my favorite songs ever, though, so everything else kinda looks worse in comparison.

Zion Gates 11-04-2005 09:06 PM

not bad...but not great, still doesnt compare to the original...the clash do an ok cover of the song aswell

I think I like the Clash version more than this one.

Zion Gates 11-04-2005 09:15 PM

^ yeah so do i

my band is covering 54-46 was my number by toots for our next show, we dont have a singer, so our sax player is doing the vocals, but with a sax line..if that makes sense..its gonna be sweet

sweboy 11-07-2005 05:33 PM

I'm really diggin' the organ in the Specials version. I have this thing for organs. But of course, the original version is untouchable. Class-sick!

The Clash's version is rockin' too, indeed. Those crazy brits with their dirty distorted guitars. I likes. The little guitar solo is wonderful too.

Daniel! 11-07-2005 06:25 PM

I think the Clash did justice to Police and Theives, too. Some of the dub and reggae stuff on Sandinasta is quality stuff also.

Zion Gates 11-08-2005 09:00 PM

bedouin soundclash do a really good money worries cover (the original artist has slipped my mind at the moment) there a pretty good band from kingston (2 hours away from where i live)...you guys have any reggae bands close to you?

Not really. They are a few ska bands from my area, though.

Daniel! 11-11-2005 01:31 PM

I've been on a reggae themed downloading spree lately. This is what I've got so far:

Dennis Brown - The Crowned Prince of Reggae: Best of Dennis Brown
Bad Brains - Live
Big Youth - Dreadlocks Dread
Lee "Scratch" Perry and the Upsetters - Super Ape

The Big Youth one and Dennis Brown are my favorites so far. Dennis Brown has written some really fantastic songs.

Yeah, totally. I commented on it a few posts back. ;) It's sweet.

I think he's fantastic. It's very much pop reggae, but it's still great.
