Thank you for the venom and I'm Not Okay are the only semi-cool songs I've heard from them and they're not even that great. I don't know, overall I don't really like them and like a lot of people said, too many of the little teenage posers around here are liking them.
I prefer Thrice over MCR. |

i agree on both part. Even though Thrice is better dosent mean MCR isnt good, Thrice in my view is the one most underated band in any type of sub-punk genre, while MCR could be one of the most overated, even though i love them |
The reason I don't like MCR is because of the type of music it is. Thrice is a different type of music, I know that. I just meant that as a general statement, meaning that I just think Thrice is a better band talent-wise and I just like that kind of music better.

you know what they do to guys like me in prison is their best song.
|
Does anyone know whos supporting them on there upcoming UK tour?

they are defininetly 2 diff. types but id have to lean on MCR's side because they have a better sound. |

Haha. Oh well, thats your opinion. |
i really like my chemical romance's music. i haven't been fortunate enough to see them live, although, the next time the come into my area i'm going to see them for sure.. i really liked their first album A LOT more than their second album, and now, i am ABSOLUTELY sick of "I'm Not Okay", "Helena" and soon "Ghost of You", due to the over kill of their music on much music and what not.. but still i love all their other songs so much, and as for gerards make up in helena i thought i was awesome, i'm not vampire-type-liking person but when i saw that music video for the first time the make-up just added to the powerfull vocals of his voice.. and yea.. thats all i have to say.. =)
|
Holy crap. I just saw "The Ghost Of You" video. Its amazing. It has a World War II "D-Day" theme to it. The band storms the beach of Normandy along with other soldiers. I've been turned off from MCR for a while because of the overplaying of Helena, but this could just get me back into them.
|
xIm Burning Star ... in like a week or so you're going to HATE the music video.. get's killed so easily.. but it's SUCH a powerful song..
The Ghost Of You music video reminds me SO much of Saving Private Ryans.. |
I love these guys and I have since their first album but I am seriously so fed up by every little teeny bopper type girl who is over possessive of "their" band telling me I only like them because "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" was such a bit hit. Props to the band for making a breakthrough into popularity but some of their fans really suck now. lol.

I saw that video for the first time on friday, i love it. |
I can't imagine Gerard's fat a'ss storming Normandy with the soldiers.
Sell Outs
Just another victim of good band gone mainstream.
that's just silly...they write they're own music...and the way they want too... what would becoming famous do to change that.... |

 Anyway. I'm just glad that with their new big budget MCR have done something good i.e. the Ghost of You video. |
They were pretty terrible live. The timing was off, sound was poor, and Gerard is THE campest person I've ever seen. He was awful at trying to play the crowd too.
|
Bah, your rubbish, there great live, or at least the last few times ive seen them.

Good to hear, as I am seeing them in concert September 15th. |

I agree. You didn't see people calling them sellouts when Three Cheers first came out. The album is still the same as it was when it came out people. But if their third album is changed for MTV, then yea. Sellouts they are. |
Do you think they'll work on another cd anytime soon?
|
Do you think they'll work on another cd anytime soon?
I hope not. I actually bought their latest CD because I really liked "I'm not OK" but after hearing it liek 50milliiongazillions times I got bored and have not really liked all there other songs, too emo for me. |

I agree with you though. They are a good band, and people fail to get past the make-up and publicity from their videos, and the fact that they are on every magazine ever. They write some catchy pop-punk tunes, some of them are really good off 3CFSR. |
Yetserday, if you asked me if i liked MCR I'd have said p!ss off. I hated both Helena and I'm not okay and had heard the album round my ex's house, but iw as kinda busy and didn't really take much notice. But yeah my opinion wasn't good.
But after seeing everyone rave about 3CFSR i dloaded it yesterday and was suprised. Gerard loses the whiny vocals on many of the songs. I really like Ghost Of You and Cemetery Drive. I also downloaded IBYMBYBMYL and this album is equally as suprising, though not as good as 3CFSR It is still quite good. Oh and i'd definateley say they were pop-punk, people categorise them as emo, but they aren't really that emo. There are bands more emo than MCR that people don't class as emo, such as the used. |
IBYMBYBMYL is a great record I think. It's gritty, it's very fast and it has melody and dark riffs. 3CFSR is obviously a much poppier record, and obviously aimed at a more mainstream audience. That doesn't mean it's a bad record.
I don't like My Chemical Romance as a band, but their music is quite decent. |
They chose poor singles off that album i thought. But they appealed to the mainstream market i suppose.
The Band seem pretty annoying in the way they market themselves, even though I tend to ignore the publicity they get off Kerrang and such, because they don't know what the fuck they are talking about most of the time. They are meant to be decent live too, but i doubt i could tolerate the amount of 'I <3 Gerard' teenage girl-fans that would be there. |
I saw them support TBS, and they were decent. Not that outstanding, but their quality was OK. Also, Gerard kept spitting into the crowd, which is just really weird

/critizes him for mis-using the label "emo", along with the guy who said The Used are emo. Although all I've done in this thread is genre nazi, I will admit that I like some of MCR's stuff. Some. |
