Assuming you have recording capabiliities then great. If you can do the vocals decently I guessing that will be the harder talent to find, but which ever you want to do. If you're seriously interested let me know which on you'd rather do, assuming we do a song you can do bass on. Then I'll put you in the line-up.
I just thought about it, and I doubt I should do vocals. I forgot my old mic broke, and that i'd have to use a computer mic, which gives pretty bad results. But for the bass part, I could probably do it. I'm not all that great at bass, but most of their songs have quite simple bass. Also, I would only be able to do a 4 string song.

Sounds good. We'll probably do something off of FTR or earlier and not super hard, so 4-string should be fine. How are you recording, mic or POD?

New tentative line-up:

Vocals - Open
Guitars - Me and Zapp
Bass - TSASI
Keys - Open
Drums - Joe

I usually record through my soundcard into a sound processor.

Cool. Got any specific song you'd like to do?

Hmm, not sure right now. Basically anything that is 4 string, easy, and not too fast.

ArcLite 06-06-2005 06:52 AM

BUMP one more time before I go to bed. Need vocalist for sure. Keys may end up being programmed. Song will most likely be something off of FTR or Hatebreeder.

Tentative competition lineup:

Vocals - *Open*
Guitars - Me and Zapp
Bass - TSASI
Keys - *Open*

Any decision on a song yet? We could probably pick one now that we sort of have the instruments picked out so we can learn the song. I'm thinking either bed of razors or everytime I die would be cool. Also did you want to play lead or rhythm or how did you want to divide the guitar parts?

Even though im not a part of this...i have a song suggestion.

You guys should cover either Children Of Decadence or Bodom After Midnight. Both would be really sweet.

I can already play a good deal of parts from both of those, so either works for me. The ones that Shattered suggested would be cool too. After listening to you Soundclick stuff I think you're probably a bit better than me so you can take lead if you're up to it. Assuming you do take lead I think it's fairest to let you have most of the say in picking the song, being as most of the leads aren't exactly easy. Let us know what you'd like to do. As far as all the final mixing goes when we have our stuff recorded, I'd be happy to do that. But yeah, unless any of the other members object, go ahead and pick the song and we'll get cracking on it.

Haha, yea this would be cool but the drum parts are pretty tough. I'm thinking Bed of Razors would be good, you guys object to that?

Sounds good to me. I know most of it already anyway. Not too tough, but still cool as hell. We'll see if our other members are fine with it. How do you think we should handle recording, all of us record our stuff separately and then mix it all together (I see problems arising this way) or starting with Joe laying down drums, he passes the file to someone else, they lay down their track, and so on...? I think the latter will work better but either way could.

Usually the drum tracks are done first, then bass/rhythm guitar, then lead so it would be easiest if Joe did his tracks then passed it on to the rest of us. We could also find a backing track and record our parts over that but Joe's playing would have to be air tight and right on 150 bpm (thats what bed of razors is at I believe). I'll post a backing track if I find one :thumb:

Forlorn Hope 06-06-2005 07:00 PM

Needled 24/7 would be a cool song to play...we would play that song but our drummer sucks and our bassist hates bodom...:(

AA-12 06-06-2005 11:34 PM

I looked and looked for a bass tab for bed of razors, and I could only find very unaccurate ones, and it seemed hard at that. So, we could either do another song, or get a better bassist who could figure out the song better. I would suggest the latter because I feel that i'm holding you guys back.

ArcLite 06-07-2005 12:11 AM

http://ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/children_of_bodom/bed_of_razors_btab.htm

That one looks halfway decent I think. Sounded good humming it in my head anyway...Also, you'll always find the best tabs on www.mysongbook.com (requires GuitarPro) or www.powertabs.net (requires PowerTab). Anyway, the one above looks like it would work and doesn't look too complicated. If you think you can play that let me know. If not, well then I guess it's option B.

AA-12 06-07-2005 12:49 AM

I'll see what I can do. What's the deadline for the comp?

ArcLite 06-07-2005 01:04 AM

It's July 1st, so we got a little over 3 weeks. Just give it a try, try playing it with the song, and let me know if it'll work.

Joe: When you're around, give us your ok or objection to doing Bed Of Razors. If you're cool with it...GET CRACKIN' ON IT :p . /Pulls out whip. We need your drum track before any of us other cats can record, and time is of the essence. Godspeed.

Just answered them. Check it out.

I'll do keys if I can somehow get my keyboard in here to record, but there's basically no chance of that.

I found the GP4 file for bed of razors and the keys are pretty much dead on... I can convert just the keyboard part to an mp3 and we can use that if we can't find a keyboardist.

Cool, I was gonna do that anyway, but you're on it. I'm excited to get chopping on this. I know most of it already, but I need clean everything up and yet the order of everything memorized.

Zapp and TSASI: You guys got AIM or MSN?
