How much do your custom Conklins cost you? A lot no doubt. :p

Papa Shank 06-08-2005 12:36 AM

[guess]I'd imagine at least for his signature model that he wouldn't have to pay much, if anything[/guess]

this time I think I'll ask (if it hasn't been asked already) who are your favourite composers?

They don't cost him anything, he's sponsored by them. I could be wrong, though..

neal_672 06-09-2005 03:35 AM

cAPS_lOCK 06-09-2005 08:03 AM
multiple scale with fanned frets
PORcell 06-09-2005 10:06 PM

Jean - How old are you and when did you start playing bass? Also, have you met any celebrities or movie stars?

Spaceman Spiff 06-09-2005 10:42 PM

Earlier in the thread he talked about an encounter with James Hetfield.

neal_672 06-11-2005 04:07 PM

HaVIC5 06-12-2005 11:22 AM

Mr. Baudin -

I just wanted to ask your opinion of my arrangement of Thelonius Monk's Round Midnight. I'm definitely a fan of your tapping work and arrangement, and would like to see what you think of mine. Pointers and critique would be awesome. Thanks!

(There's the thread where you can find it)

bassist-bmxer 06-12-2005 03:52 PM

I thought it was pronounced: Jean (john) Baudin (baw-din).

Chameleon 06-12-2005 05:34 PM

That's how I say it....except I say the 'J' as a...'french' J.

bassist-bmxer 06-13-2005 04:44 AM

Yeah thats how I say it, like the way you pronounce Jean Claude Van Damme :p

Rollo47 06-15-2005 07:42 AM

I say it like John Bawdan. Just seems right to me.

thelowsoundofbass 06-16-2005 09:19 PM

Foxfire 06-23-2005 06:11 PM

;)
Hey I was just looking at the Pac bass and noticed the Two input jacks on it...

How does this work? and why is it there?

Sorry if this has been asked.
hey guys - sorry for the long break. I will try to pop in more often.

I explained this in another thread, but each pickup can be "halved" - I can send the signal to different amps. So I can run low strings into a bass amp, and the high strings into a guitar amp w/ distortion, basically getting 2 different kind of tones out of 1 instrument. Got it? The other thread defines all the knobs and switches... maybe a search for "pac bass" or something... hmmmm.

Jean Baudin 06-27-2005 11:47 AM
Hi there Mr. Jean Beaudin!

About the crayola crayons? I see theres 64.... I have you ever dreamed of making a 64 string bass??

You don't really have to answer that, I just didn't know what to ask.
I think that's called a harp. ;)

Jean Baudin 06-27-2005 11:49 AM
Dear Mr. Jean Baudin,

When are you going to start posting and become an official MX forumite?!

We'd love to see you in some threads, listening to songs, entering bass competitio----- well, maybe not entering bass competitions, because only CoffeeKiller or Bass_Guy could stand a chance, but still....
I did post in a couple threads... but I've been trying to stay off the internet, TV etc. - I have lots of practicing, writing and recording to do. If I'm online too much, nothing gets done. No offense to you guys.

- jean the hermit.

Jean Baudin 06-27-2005 01:26 PM
Ooh, here's a question... how exactly is your name pronounced?
in france / or if speak french:
Zjohn (like Jean-Luc Picard) - Bo (like Bow and Arrow) Da (like Dan without the N)

in english:
Gene Bo-dean.

It's too difficult to have people say "jean" in english, they end up saying "John" (which is a more exact translation). I have no idea who came up with Bodean as the pronunciation of the last name.

Jean Baudin 06-27-2005 01:29 PM
I was looking at your basses and noticed that you had a fretless (with black beauties it seemed), which got me wondering do you prefer the sound of the fretless to a fretted bass, or is it just for certain pieces? How often do you use it?
I prefer fretted. But I do have fun with the fretless - I like the tone of fretless, but it's a little too mellow for what I do. I may have to pick up a couple more fretlesses in the future. I don't use it too often as I don't spend too much time on the 6-string.

sixxbassist90 06-27-2005 01:44 PM

i hear theres an 11 string being made for you. how is that gonna be tuned?
your not gonna add a lower string(c#) are you? that'd be really low :amaze:

PoltikBass 06-28-2005 10:48 PM

Howdy! I saw some of your videos and you are just amazing. Thanks for putting up with our questions. ;)

Im not sure if anyone has asked this yet cause it would take days to read the whole thread. But have you ever played/owned/considered buying a chapman stick? It seems like it would be right up your alley.

Low_End_Communications 06-29-2005 07:42 AM

Hem, I always thought it was Gene Bowdin. Oh well, people can never get my last name right either. Posega.
