Thrice - A subtle dagger

Starts fast, with everything guitars, drums and bass. I like the guitars. Some screaming follows shortly. I don't like his voice. Then it goes over to a melodic riff, followed by a pretty cool chorus. Then a verse again, with the screaming, I'm actually starting to like it. Back to the chorus again, which I dig.

Now comes a mini solo, pretty melodic, but it ends to fast. Back to some screaming, with the guitars "screaming" with him. Then it ends. Whew that was short.

Meh, it was okay. Nothing stood out as particularly good. My favourite part was the chorus, where the vocalist actually sang.

nice laid back guitar intro, joined by harmonizing bass and drums. then YODELING! good god i love it. back to melody. nice drum bridge, more yodeling! excellant guiar solo that really fits in with the rest of the song, something you dont get much nowadays. drum bridge, some crazy skat, then more melody. more yodeling. that guy really can hit the high notes. another guitar solo, this ones faster but not as good. some pan pipe going on, very nice. another melody thing, holy ****, its an accordian. Another solo, as good as the first, nice drum fill, yodeling, then the yodeler laughing. more melody. the tempo slows and the song ends.

A alltogether decent song, very frenetic with the yodelling, pan pipe, whistling, and harmonica. a very good flow

Well, Strike Anywhere have an album called Exit English, with a song called Blaze on it. I assumed that's what you meant.

Starts off with what might be an interesting riff, but it soon (like, 2 seconds in) becomes really bland and inoffensive. At the start of the verse, the vocals have a slight edge to them, but that too instantly disappears, so we're left with unimpressive, slightly whiny vocals.

His voice regains a little of that edge (literally for around a quarter of a second) at the start of the next verse, before becoming bland again.

I don't know what to do with this, the song is giving me nothing to work with. The instruments aren't changing from a constant drum beat, and the inoffensive guitar. The vocals still have that little edge every now and then, but somehow that just makes it worse that they are most often not like that.

The instruments had no variation, and the thing they weren't varying from wasn't any good to start with. I also don't really see how that was screamo; any scream the vocalist has tapers off after half a second. It ended up sounding like punk, maybe even bordering on pop punk. Substandard pop-punk, at that.

2/10. Very poor.

[B]Blue Oyster Cult-Golden Age Of Leather[/B]

The intro is that opera like singing. reminds me alot of queen's bohemian rhapsody.its a great way to start off a song. after this it comes in with a nice riff and the song starts to really pick up.

in a little while they change it up a bit and his voices starts to change a tad and gets rather deeper. and another great riff breaks in. accompanied with a nice solo which fits in quite nicely with the song.he continues to stick with the deeper voice which gives the song a bit of an edge.

next the songs tempo changes to a bit slower. but then it changes again to back to the faster pace. i noticed it does this a couple more times as well before the song ends. and it goes back to the opera style singing as heard in the intro. after this the song ends.

8.5/10 i really liked this song especially the singing and guitar work. i may check some more stuff out by these guys.

[b]String Cheese Incident - 100 Years Flood[/b] - 3:00

Starts off light and fun, with a burst of a fairly good voice, and quite a few instruments. There's a piano in there, which I like, but other than that I'm almost a minute in and nothing particularly good's happening so far.

Around 1:40 what I think is a violin comes in, and that's pretty good. It doesn't stay long though, and the song moves on to some so-so guitar picking, and then further on to some piano.

And then an electric guitar! Certainly a good variety here. Vocals restart around 3:15. After they finish around 4:15, the song just leads out on lots of instrumental messing around, mostly on guitar and electric guitar, though I noticed the drums as well.

That was alright..I'm slowly getting into this kind of thing, but this is probably the least good of the songs I've heard so far. The vocals, and their lyrics and rhythm, didn't do anything for me, and the instruments were only good, not great.

Dibs. I got cut off just as my download finished, so I couldn't review it. Oh well. The Fu Manchu song: 8/10. Didn't like the wah thing, but the rest was excellent.

[i]Spastic Ink - To Counter and Groove in E Minor[/i]

This is an interesting listen. The guitar (with an odd tone, that I am not sure whether I like or dislike) starts soloing, and then the bass starts soloing, and it somehow molds together. I like the bass tone, however. Then a cool drum and bass thing starts to happen, with an excellent groove. You will be nodding your head to the beat in no time. And the guitar does all this crazy stuff whenever he wants. Then the guitar starts playing a little riff, which sounds almost reggae-is, but heavily distorted. Then there is more bass and guitar soloing, this time with a drum beat. Then a cool riff up high, which is harmonised with another guitar soon after. Soon after than, a cool bass solo, which is great. It is basically scale runs, but sounds excellent. Then another fast guitar riff, probably the best one in the song. it does some other stuff after this, then does the cool harmonised riff, and then a little shredding thing out. A great song.
