I really like the song Maps by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs... Can someone recommend me some other songs to check out?

br3ad_man 06-08-2004 01:31 AM

I got "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails today. By the first sounds of it, I don't think I like it anywhere near as much as "The Fragile"

Tangy zizzle 06-08-2004 01:35 AM

I got Hot Head - Introducing Captain Beefheart yesterday. It's quite cool. It is like a best of sorta thing, but it has nothing off of Trout Mask Replica...

I'd give it a solid 4.1/5 myself.

AMAZING is all I have to say about them. All the songs are incredibly well structured for a band of their genre. Very catchy as well.

obviously not new, but i'm listening to it right now, and all in the mood...
leonard cohen's Songs From a Room. especially songs, Bird on a Wire, The Old Revolution and The Butcher.

some new bands i've been into lately include, the Von Bondies (the're kind of glammy), The Good Life (Tim Kasher of Cursive's other band), and Money Mark (complete electronica, but very good), and Elbow (indie pop-ish, but fvck genre, they're just good).

Lagwagon
Firewater
My Morning Jacket
PJ Harvey
Incubus...

I think I can now call myself a Flaming Lips fan... I recently downloaded a bunch of their songs and I'm liking them quite a bit.

Right now I'm listening to American Football. Good songs to check out:

Honestly?
Never Meant
The Summer Ends
For Sure

Tangy zizzle 06-09-2004 10:47 PM

I've been super-digging John Zorn/Naked City and John Coltrane today.

Other than a John Frusciante and Omar rodriguez jam, they are all I have listened to!

Get Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots......it is sooooooo good. It made it's way to number two in my top 10 albums within about 3 weeks.

br3ad_man 06-10-2004 12:15 AM

Oh....I bought The Soft Bulletin last weekend. So far, I haven't found it to be the big brother to Yoshimi that you think it is. When you bought it, was it an instant classic, or a grower?

EDIT: To OrbDragon
