Yea, but I think Scyma got caught so that's why he's doing it. Not just out of suspicion.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Eh, my mom and stepdad know I do it but they're not strict about it. As long as I don't do anything stupid (like drive or get arrested).

Badmoon 06-27-2005 05:27 PM
Eh, my mom and stepdad know I do it but they're not strict about it. As long as I don't do anything stupid (like drive or get arrested).
It's kind of the same around here. Though my parents are a little more strict with me than my old brother.

Seafroggys 06-27-2005 05:47 PM

Man I can't believe drugs are that important to you people. I would definitally give up drugs, masturbation, and sex to go see Paul McCartney (and I only do one of those, guess which one :P )

Masturbation would be my guess.
My parents just consider I'm straight edge, seeing as I spend 99% of my time on here. They would never begin to think of me doing drugs.
Mine are just the opposite. They are convinced that I am on drugs (I am not, surprisingly) and try to acknowledge it with little tips on how not to get busted
Once my Dad was like" Did you hear about that Australian supermodel the got busted with 9lbs of weed? Yeah, I don't know when people will ever learn, buy what you want there and ship it back home!"
Along with his constant analogies of people who put Grateful Dead Bears all over their car and get busted. He thought I was stupid for putting one on my gig bag because he though I was going to get busted  My dad won't believe I'm not on drugs, instead of the other way around

thickasabrick 06-27-2005 06:28 PM
My dad is drug testing me (randomly) and if I come up positive at any time he won't let me go.
My best friend had to go through drug tests for a while...and he's been smoking about two grams a day for over three years now, so obviously quitting for him was hard.

He bought a special kit from our local headshop, for $35 canadian, it had a 200% moneyback guarantee that it would be able to make any marijuana in your system undetectable, as long as you didn't smoke up for about five days before the test, and then took the pills about an hour before the test. It worked and he never had to get tested again.

I'm just letting you know that there are options out there, although if he tests you every month it may get a little expensive having to buy the pills.

edit- and Sweet did Ballroom Blitz, although countless bands have covered it. My parents know I'm a pothead, but they won't get mad unless my marks start dropping or I start missing work. They always find pot in my car, in their vehicles (woops), around the house (double woops), and of course...I usually come home baked every night.

Glitterati 06-27-2005 06:37 PM

I just got my Dylan shirt in the mail. It's so cool.

Now I can let everyone around town know I idolize a scratchy-throated Jewish folk singer :D

thickasabrick 06-27-2005 06:44 PM

I wish I had a Dylan shirt. There have been a bunch of really nice Neil Young shirts at this store I usually go to. Unfortunately they are usually overpriced.

Glitterati 06-27-2005 06:46 PM
Unfortunately they are usually overpriced.
Yeah, when I don't feel like shelling out $30 CAN, I just go on eBay.

Who in here listens to jazz on a semi-regular basis? I find myself listening to it just about every day now...usually on the radio late at night when I'm out with my friends. Jazz music is surprisingly great when you're stoned, probably my favourite kind of music to listen to except psychedelic.

Glitterati 06-27-2005 07:00 PM

I'm slowly getting into jazz, I got Miles Davis's "Sketches Of Spain" the other day. I think that jazz and blues have a lot of similarities.

robo2448 06-27-2005 07:33 PM

I need a Dylan shirt.

RobNY 06-27-2005 07:36 PM
I love jazz. Particularly jazz fusion which I'm really getting into now, to the point where I'm turning into a distinct John McLaughlin fanboy. His solo stuff and his work with Mahavishnu Orchestra are both really enjoyable to listen to. Chick Corea's great as well, along with Bitches Brew by Miles Davis, which pretty much invented the genre, I think. That can be near impossible to get into, but once you do it's definitely very worth it. It took me ages to get into jazz for some reason, although it's always been on quite a bit in my house.
Ditto for me with Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Actually, I listened to Bitches Brew the other day. (not the album) It didn't do much for me. But I was listening to a vinyl called "Basic Miles" and it had this lovely rendition of On Green Dolphin Street which I fell in love with. And I listened to part of A Love Supreme too. I'm, er, extending feelers into that stuff.

Glitterati 06-27-2005 07:43 PM

I like musicians or bands that can fuse modern rock with jazz, like Van Morrison.

Anyone else like Van Morrison?

Walrus Gumboot 06-27-2005 07:48 PM

I got this one when I saw Dylan last week:
http://stores.musictoday.com/store/product.asp?dept%5Fid=884&pf%5Fid=DYCT39&band%5Fid=381&sfid=2 (the green one)
My dad has a million really cool Neil Young shirts, that I would happily wear if they weren't 4 sizes too big

robo2448 06-27-2005 07:51 PM

I listened to Moondance (the album) this morning. It's pretty good, I like him. Good acoustic player with some nice jazz influences.

Edit- that shirt is awesome. Wish I had one of those.

Glitterati 06-27-2005 07:54 PM

I was reminded of Van 'cause he's in the new Rolling Stone magazine. There was a picture of him, and I forgot he was like 300 pounds.

Walrus Gumboot 06-27-2005 07:56 PM

When I saw Dylan, there was this guy with a picute of a young Dylan playing keyboard on his shirt. It was wierd to look at his shirt and then look at Dylan right there, it was a moment

White_heat 06-27-2005 08:27 PM

I just got an Allman Brotner's Band shirt today, its really cool. It has the cover of Eat a Peach on the front and the tour dates of their 1973 tour on the back.

I really like the Grateful Dead s/t. I like the early raw sound and the way the blend so many genres together. Sittin' On Top of the World, Cream Puff War, Viola Lee Blues, Cold Rain and Snow, are all good in addition to The Golden Road.

I totally agree, that's my favorite version of Sittin' on Top of the World. The extended version of Viola Lee Blues is cool too.

lunch998 06-27-2005 09:24 PM

The bonus tracks are really cool too because they are different songs as opposed to just live versions (which are good too). Like Alice D. Millionaire.

Illmatic 06-27-2005 09:25 PM

Which Tom Petty album should I get?

White_heat 06-27-2005 09:27 PM

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is a preety good album.

Illmatic 06-27-2005 09:29 PM

The songs that I like are spread across his entire discography, so it's just a matter of taking a leap of faith on an album or two.

Or buying all of his albums, but that's too costly, despite the fact that I buy used.

Yeah, quite an original albums, in a certain way. Taking Roots songs, and playing them in a Psychedelic Blues rock form.

Anybody like the J. Geils Band? Listened to Full House and it was pretty good..

I've been listening to old old Steve Miller too. Way better than his mainstream songs.
