Ninja edit why don't you.

I get what you meant about the powerchords now.

And yeh, either way to play it is right, I don't think it matters.

Jev 09-04-2005 02:25 PM
thats how i used to play the intro
It's exactly the same just rooted on the E string.

fatbandit 09-04-2005 02:25 PM

Not that you should listen to me. I only play bass.

I also find it easier to down-pick it all when it is all on the same string, but you're right, its all the same note so just go with what feels right.

metalhead_matt 09-04-2005 02:27 PM
It's exactly the same just rooted on the E string.
i know, but its even easier on one string

Jev 09-04-2005 02:27 PM

I don't downpick, I'm lazy and alt. it.

fatbandit 09-04-2005 02:30 PM

It hurts my hand to downpick everything on my bass, when I use a pick. I use economy picking for everything. Or whatever you call it. I'm not big on technical terms. Not strict downpicking, and not strict alt. picking.

when i am stood up i alt because i doubt i could get thru the whole song. But when i practice it sat down i try down it all.

Jev 09-04-2005 02:55 PM

I can downpick it but i'd rather not waste energy.

Joe 09-04-2005 06:27 PM
I am always convinced that intro is wrong. It might just be me being picky, but everytime i see him play it live he plays the....

------7------6-----
-0-0----0-0----0-0- etc

...bit all on the low E string (power chords as well.)

So it would be like:

--------------------12-11-10-9------------------------------
-0-0-12-0-0-11-0-0-10-9--8--7-------------------------
It doesn't make much of a difference. Same notes
when i am stood up i alt because i doubt i could get thru the whole song. But when i practice it sat down i try down it all.
It's worth doing it.

So I recorded the Unforgiven, except it's my version, not really similar to the Metallica one. all the notes are the same but I kinda added my own taste to it. Tell me what you guys think

well because its not what im used to, it seemed weird, most songs like that do.

but honestly, I thought what you did was really very good, the tone you got was decent also

thanks, i kind of expected that about the fact that it's fairly different. i really like the tone too, i don't really get why that turned out good than other things i've recorded

blue3 09-04-2005 09:25 PM

It's different.. still good though.

Chu 09-04-2005 11:25 PM

I know this is going to be great gocaps
gocaps++

Edit:
*Tear*
Great, as always.

mr black 09-04-2005 11:32 PM

MOP is definatly an effort to downstroke the whole song, god knows how James does whole sets using only downstrokes, i play 2 minutes into MOP and my wrist is burning unless i alt. pick it.

Huber 09-04-2005 11:36 PM

I try and down pick most Metallica because I know James plays it down picked, and it does sound more like Metallica's version when down picked most of the time, but it's still hard to pull off some of that stuff down picked.

Jasarn 09-05-2005 12:04 AM
Yeah but what would they call Master of Puppets then?
The just don't make Master of Puppets. :)

Lies. I downstroke all of it. I can't alt pick it :upset: .

I'm getting a new drum kit tomorrow, and if you'd like (because I'd like to) I'll make a drum track for that.

fatbandit 09-05-2005 04:18 AM

Some of the multitracking seems a bit out on some bits, but other than that, I'm liking it :)

:smash:

mr black 09-05-2005 07:35 AM

Not bad, some of it a little out of time, but as a home recording(im guessing) goes a good effort :thumb:

Oh yea it is. I don't downpick the whole song, but I try to.

Cool, this also means we can start recording FWTBT right?

Trivium 09-05-2005 08:43 AM
Lies. I downstroke all of it. I can't alt pick it :upset: .
so what if James only downpicks it. Not being able to alternate pick is handicap

Jev 09-05-2005 09:59 AM
Cool, this also means we can start recording FWTBT right?
Me and the band were playing that today. The new music teacher came in and we thought he was gonna tewll us to turn it down or something. Turns out he's a huge Metallica fan.

/rambles.

Britton 09-05-2005 10:53 AM

Say your manners little one

Fill it with bacon bits
Look for food in the bin
that thing there ain't gin
Throw it back in the bin

I leave my bakery open
They're all £2.50 (WTF don't ask)

Exit Cake
Enter Muffin
Back my Cake
We're off to Cadbury's chocolate land.
