Yeah, I haven't heard their old stuff either. That album is excellent though. I'd really like to own the actual thing.

Really? He usually stays out of my reviews and I don't really ever post in his reviews (save for his CTTS one and a couple other ones he's written) because I know how volatile things can be - intentional or not.

To be fair, I wasn't really pissed off at him - it was just another reason for me to start a BS argument with someone who thought I was being serious.

For my child development class at uni, I had to run simple tests with a little kid and record their interactions/answers.

The prof gave us a guideline for what we could use... either three tasks with one child or one task with three children. So, when I went home this weekend, I went to my church and got my priest's son to help me out.

Since I know I'm going to get "WTF, priests can't marry and have kids, only molest them LOL!" types of responses from some idiots (not necessarily here, but if I posted this in The Pit...), I'm going to reiterate that I'm not Roman Catholic.

So anyways, the different tasks we could do were moral reasoning (self-explanatory), representation (drawing figures, maps, etc.), conservation of matter (self-explanatory), and digit span (memorization of numbers 0-9 with flash cards, increase the cards by one until the child errs on two numbers in the set).

Since my buddy is four, I figured conservation of matter would be easiest.

The three conservation tasks I had to do involved conservation of liquid (pour into two identical shorter glasses an identical amount of drink, ask if they're the same, when the kid says they are, take one of the glasses and pour it into a taller, thinner glass... which one has more and why, etc.), conservation of matter (play-doh fun... are these balls the same... when they are, roll them into different shapes, ask if they're the same amount, roll them back into a ball, are they the same, etc.), and conservation of number (have the kid do as you do with poker chips, ask if they are the same [he should say yes, since he mimiced you], then smush his row together and separate mine out, ask if they're the same, etc.).

And, it's picture time.

Next we did conservation of matter. I opened up two new jars of Play-Doh, and asked him if the balls were the same size.

Each time, I had to ask if the balls of Play-Doh were the same. He said no every time, even when I rolled the shapes back up into a ball.

Then, I told him, "Do what I do." I had to just make a row of poker chips.
