i don't like my vinyl, but i think just my record player sucks.
Yea, vinyl only sounds great through great speakers. My dad's speakers keep ruining his new amplifier tubes, he spent over $100 on them

Badmoon 03-11-2005 04:40 PM
Yes, but if they were never used, that's what would happen.
Then what is the point. Vinyl gets scratched just as easy as CDs.

Broken Arrow 03-11-2005 04:42 PM

I'm listening to the Grateful Dead cover Not Fade Away. Its good.

The version on Skull and Roses is great.

The point is that over time, vinyl is the better choice.

I want some very badly.

lunch998 03-11-2005 04:47 PM

Let There Be More Light is a really cool song.

By who?

NP-Grateful Dead-Dear Mr. Fantasy

Badmoon 03-11-2005 04:48 PM

Actually I have heard various times that Vinyl wears down, causing one to have to buy another copy of an album.
By who?

Pink Floyd on Saucerful of Secrets.

Probably after intense playing.

I could send it to you later, or many other people probably can.

Badmoon 03-11-2005 04:56 PM

Well, I've listened to some of my albums hundreds of times, and they are in good condition. Most likely because to play, they do not need a sharp need running on them.

But whatever. Let's drop it.
Let There Be More Light is a really cool song.
Agreed. I love that song.

I mainly listen to vinyl. I think one of the main reasons vinyl can last much longer than CDs, is just because you don't carry your records around, or use them in your car and stuff like that. Very rarely do my records venture any further than my basement. CDs always just get wrecked from carelessness, if you can treat your CDs with respect, they will last just as long as vinyl probably. (sorry to bring up a dead topic)

Every year in a city just south of me there's a blues festival, and it's one of the biggest in the nation. I've never gone, but I think I might this year because the Levon Helm Band is gonna be there. It should be awesome.

Mental Graffiti 03-11-2005 06:56 PM

What are your favorite classic rock albums?

Mine:

Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix Experience
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Animals - Pink Floyd
Back in Black - AC/DC
Revolver - The Beatles

Badmoon 03-11-2005 07:01 PM

Too many to name.

Here's another question. What city do you believe spawned the greatest bands?

My answer is San Francisco or course.

magicbus 03-11-2005 07:05 PM

How similiar is Captain Beefheart to Frank Zappa? Or does he just sing on Willie The Pimp and isn't very similar at all?

He isn't that similar. Frank Zappa's music (With possible exception for early material) is very structured and usually clean. While Beefheart's music is very Free-Jazz influenced and messy.

Beefheart and Zappa were chilhood friends, btw.

I prefer Beefheart though.

Walrus Gumboot 03-11-2005 07:18 PM
Agreed. I love that song.

I loved listening to vinyl until my dad stole the amp back...

Woodstock 03-11-2005 07:20 PM

Argh! I can't find an accurate tab for Iggy Pop's-Gimme Danger. That has one of the best acoustic riffs.

Interesting. Thanks for your input. :thumb:

Any songs I should hear first to start with him?
