it was part of a broader series of essays on the relationship between music and argumentation, focussing on writers that were rhetorically diverse and used argument to define their characters rather than mere description

i did shakespeare, joyce, various russian authors, umberto eco and a couple of little things on rhetorical study in the renaissance and its classical origins

plus joyce loved music and wrote quite a bit but it was pretty crap
